Tiny homes have proved to be as practical as they are irresistibly cute. And while many people cringe at the idea of living in a tiny home and sharing the cramped space with one or more individuals, there are many others who say downsizing their lifestyle was the best decision they ever made as it brought them peace of mind and happiness.
Due to compact dwellings' growing popularity, the tiny house building industry has significantly evolved and diversified over the last few years. Back when crafting a tiny house used to be a do-it-yourself affair, it took months or even years to finish the build. Now, using unique construction techniques, builders can deliver the tiny home of your dreams within weeks.

Yes, you read that right. There is a Pennsylvania-based company that can have your tiny house ready within weeks. It's called Atomic Tiny Homes and was launched by siblings Daniel McPhillips and Chloe Rich in 2020. The pair used to build large-scale scenery for live entertainment events, and when the pandemic hit, they shifted to tiny house building.

Using an optimized construction process that employs computer-aided designs and digital fabrication tools, the company maximizes square footage and delivers comfortable, sustainable, and affordable tiny living spaces that can be infinitely customized to meet the needs of every customer.

According to the team, most of the materials used in the building process, from the wall panels and decking to the sheathing boards, are cut using a CNC (computer numerical control) machine. Since this machine is controlled by a computer, increased efficiency and accuracy are ensured, especially compared to manual processes. Moreover, the technique leads to a reduced assembly time, so instead of months, it only takes five weeks or so to complete a tiny home.

Atomic's tiny dwellings are all called "VIA," but different models are available, including Standard, Modern, and Farmhouse. All three designs come in various sizes and can be optioned with or without a loft. They are built by Atomic Tiny Homes' team of experts, based on designs by Liv-Connected.

The company's homes are basically a canvas for the owner to personalize so that it suits their lifestyle. Whether you prefer a first-floor bedroom only, a downstairs bedroom and a loft sleeping space, an open workspace, or a ground-floor bedroom and office, the company can make it possible.

The model pictured here is a VIA Farmhouse that measures 32 feet (9.75 meters) long and brings the charm of classic country homes in a compact footprint. It is built to offer durability and mobility without compromising on style and comfort.

The exterior is clad in LP smart siding with a dual-tone finish of matte black and arctic white. The front windows and full-light entrance door also feature contrasting black trim on the white facade. Standard R23 insulation in the ceiling, walls, and floors ensures the VIA home can be lived in regardless of the season, so there is no need to worry about freezing in winter or other structural issues.

The interior is spacious and airy, with white walls and natural wood floorings. The layout provides segmented living spaces, including a living area, a ground-floor bedroom, a full bathroom, and a kitchen. The Farmhouse model is also available with a loft if you need extra sleeping, storage, or retreat space.

In order to create the farmhouse effect and a warm and cozy atmosphere, the company incorporated traditional black and white elements, feature walls, and natural wood beams and accents throughout the house.

The kitchen and living room are an open-plan design and offer a welcoming space for family and friends gatherings. The lounge area is spacious enough to fit an L-shaped sofa, while the kitchen comes standard with a propane cooktop and oven for the owner's cooking needs. Plenty of cabinetry endures storage needs are taken care of. Opposite the kitchen, there is an additional storage unit with narrow cubicles where books, potted plants, or decor items could be placed.

The ground-floor bedroom is spacious and comfortable and has lots of storage. There are wardrobes on either side of the door for all your clothes and personal items, plus open shelving on the walls. A queen bed fits perfectly inside this bedroom, with plenty of space to get around. If you prefer a larger bed, you could outfit it with a king bed, but it would go from wall to wall.

In the lofted version, access to the loft is made through a storage-integrated staircase that can also house a washer/dryer combo unit. The kitchen is smaller and is tucked away under the stairs.

Finally, the bathroom is pretty basic, providing a standard flush toilet, a sink, and a shower.

The VIA Farmhouse tiny home starts at $120,000 or approximately $925 per month when financed. For some, it might seem much, but the flexible layout and high-quality appliances make it all worth it. Not to mention the rustic charm combined with modern amenities and the very short delivery time.
