2024 Hot Wheels Case K Reveals New Super Treasure Hunt Car

My buddy Mike has spent so many hours working on my RX-7 that I've helped him kickstart a Hot Wheels collection of his own in exchange. When I go into a toy store, I always buy two of everything. That way, there's one for each of us. Even so, I've significantly slowed down when purchasing Mainline items. I usually look for two or a maximum of three cars per case, although that number may vary occasionally.

We typically see these new sets coming out one or two months before they arrive in stores. That's one way of increasing the size of your must-have list. I still haven't found the cool cars from Case G, which I discussed in February. Alas, we can now see what's inside Case K for 2024, and judging by the Super Treasure Hunt alone, it's an epic collection.

Treasure Hunt 

Before we look at that, let's analyze the new Regular Treasure Hunt model. Larry Wood designed the Bone Shaker, which debuted in the 2006 First Editions series. It reached STH status by 2009, doing so again in 2013.

With an iconic casting like this, you can expect many valuable iterations on the open market. Some will cost $500 or more apiece, but that's not the case for the latest TH item.

Getting one for less than $10 isn't impossible, but it may take a while to get your hands on it. There's a chance it could become one of the most popular TH vehicles for 2024, given its appeal among collectors worldwide. And the white-on-black theme suits it nicely.

Super Treasure Hunt 

I have been waiting for this one for months now. In recent years, we have had three rotary-powered Super Treasure Hunt items: the 1968 Mazda Cosmo Sport (2023), the '95 Mazda RX-7 (2021), and the Mazda RX-3 (2021). In the real world, all of those cars only have two-rotor engines.

Mattel hasn't revealed a replica of the '90s Eunos Cosmo yet (three-rotor engine); there was only one natural step left: something with four rotors or more. I don't think we'll see Mad Mike 787D in the STH series, as it's not yet as iconic as it should be. But the Le Mans-winning 787B is the perfect vehicle for the job. Since 2018, we have had six variations of this vehicle, and the Premium ones were downright spectacular.

Spectraflame Orange isn't exactly an accurate depiction of the iconic race car, but it still looks awesome! The mismatched Real Riders Aero/Exotic wheels are a throwback to the early Car Culture days and are just what the 787B casting needs to stand out. Just brace yourselves for the cost: someone asked $230 for the short card version on eBay.

Case K Highlights

Now, on to the more affordable collectibles in the new case, starting with the Track Dwagon. This fantasy casting is Dwayne Vance's creation, and it's a brand-new release for 2024. I'm sure station wagon enthusiasts will like this model, but I'll probably pass on it for now. The diecast manufacturer hasn't released a new variation of the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento since 2022.

But we're getting two of them this year: the first is this white one, while the second will be a Walmart-exclusive ZAMAC version. That one is bound to attract a lot of attention, and I don't think you'll be able to find one on the open market for less than $30. (I hope I'm wrong!) The latest release of the '73 Jeep J10 could be the best yet, and I can see myself digging a sand pit in my front yard just to play Baja with it.

No Hot Wheels Mainline set would feel complete without at least one Porsche casting inside, and this time, it's the '96 Carrera. It was off the market in 2022 and 2023, and this is the ninth variation since its 2019 debut. Rumors have it we'll get a second release later this year, and I'll probably pick both of them up for my collection.

The red '84 Mustang SVO is the fifth iteration in three years, and some of you may remember the Super Treasure Hunt model from 2022. Bumblebee isn't a new casting but a new way to portray the classic Volkswagen Bug. It looks nice in yellow, but I'd much rather have the Camaro version of the iconic Autobot.

I also have mixed feelings about the new variation of the Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R LBWK. It's only the second time it shows up as a Mainline model, and I think it's better suited to the Premium series. Dragtor is an item I had forgotten all about, as I haven't seen one in years. The concept is as cool as nutty, and I'd almost love it with Real Riders wheels on.

The Land Rover Series II debuted in 2023 with an Artichoke Green finish, and you can collect three of them this year. I didn't enjoy the Light Gray model as much, but the new one in Blue is slightly more tempting. I remember having three or four iterations of the '90s Acura NSX in my collection. I've since sold them all, and I'm sorry I did.

The new yellow one is amazing; people might lose their minds over the ZAMAC model soon. It's not hard to tell that the 24/Seven is a Mazda RX-7, and a long time has passed since it last appeared in the Mainline series. It's now here to celebrate International Friendship Day, which takes me back to the beginning of this story.

I was equally surprised to see the Grumobile after so many years, but you might not care if you already have one at home. If you want one more piece of American Muscle, you'll enjoy the '92 Mustang. I'd rather see one more SN95 instead.

Last year, you could buy a ZAMAC version of the Classic Cobra at Walmart stores. We finally get one in the Mainline series, and it's even better with the blue accents. The final highlight of Case K is the Bugatti Bolide. Sonny Fisher designed the casting for its 2023 debut in black and blue.

For 2024, the new color scheme will remind you of a well-known Whiz Khalifa song: Black and Yellow. With five more cases to go until the end of the 2024 Mainline series, we might see all the novelties within the next two or three months. And then, the hunt will be on for the 2025 collection with all of its Super Treasure Hunt releases.
