I have always been a big fan of foreign languages. I can speak a bit of Italian, French, and Japanese. But it doesn't end there. My friends are always shocked to hear how many strange words I can mutter.
Let me tell you this: remembering all the different Hot Wheels castings and variations can sometimes be equally as difficult. First, Mattel has been at it for over half a century. Second, the rate of development is phenomenal. I've looked away from my phone for two days, and I now find myself bombarded with diecast information everywhere.

Some of you may love seeing custom Hot Wheels cars, but most collectors are eager to see new models from the factory. First, a new Mail-in Promo model is on the horizon. It's the second one for 2024, as the Nissan Silvia (CSP311) came first. Buying $20 worth of Hot Wheels cars from a certain store would have landed you that model. Still, some eBay sellers will try to convince you that you should pay as much as $60 for this collectible.

The four models Mattel used as an extra incentive to persuade you into buying weren't all that exciting. The Falken '69 Ford Mustang Boss 302 was slightly above average, although I'm sure some people were also happy with the Gemera. Anyway, let's look at what's coming up in Kroger stores. The '70 Plymouth Barracuda is the oldest of the four castings, as it has been around since 1997.

David Weise designed this one; you can collect over 30 variations. After not coming out in 2023, we are now looking at the third release for 2024. I've always had a thing for yellow cars, but I'm unsure about the Exotic 10-Spoke wheels. Otto Kuhni is the artist behind the Custom Otto, and you can already see the connection here.

Larry Wood designed the casting for its 2008 Toy Fair debut, and Mattel came up with multiple cool variations throughout that year. Some can sell for as much as $800+, so this collection won't come cheap. While I have a lot of fond memories related to the Volvo XC40, the Ford GT40 is the clear winner here. We have seen several yellow variations before. And I'd almost buy $20 of this model just to get to the cherry on top. And that's the Porsche 356 Outlaw.

Admittedly, it's not as cool as last year's Collector Edition Porsche 993 GT2, but it's still pretty nice. If you have that at home, it would look great next to the 2022 Porsche 356 Speedster mail-in special.

The latest 356 Outlaw features a Spectraflame Red finish and Classic 4-Spoke Real Riders wheels. Come to think of it, you'll only find three or four iterations that are just as exciting. And that's just a quarter of the way to having the complete collection.
