The good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube are at their usual venue - Island Dragway, this time for some truck vs. muscle vs. bike action, and the videographer says we should get ready for some wild showcases.
Over the past couple of years, we have grown increasingly fond of some quarter-mile dragstrip vloggers who have made it an honorable point to give us some of the most interesting skirmishes out there. Sure, they can't compare to major powerhouses, but the man behind a channel like Drag Racing and Car Stuff can still bring a much more intimate view of the racetrack action. Besides, in a world of people that value time as their most precious commodity more often than not, big YouTube channels that put out half an hour of interviews and pre-race shenanigans for a skirmish that lasts a few seconds are pretty much yesterday's news.

Nowadays, it's better to be concise to the point of not having even a voiceover and just letting the action speak for itself – in features of no more than a minute or two. Since DRACS has been taking a few brakes in recent months, we started looking for viable alternatives and found ImportRace, a channel initially dedicated to America versus Import skirmishes that has since expanded its view tremendously – they even have an offshoot called 'The Drag Channel' which covers that interview and presentation part in no more than three to five minutes. They're fast, right?

Well, they were also quick to give us ample coverage of stuff like the Street Car Takeover events or the marvelous TX2K24 that saw the historical Texas Motorplex taken over by roaring monsters that made our hearts flutter. Anyway, after that, they came back to their usual venue – Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey. You would think that means it's going to be a boring period just because it's a small racetrack. However, they have Test & Tune Days that are incredibly popular.

When we say popular, we really mean it. Just last month, the videographer gave us the instance of a mighty 1,025-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 that fought a contemporary Ford Mustang and then some classic muscle cars just to get the nasty surprise of finding out that one of them was a six-second master of the quarter-mile dragstrip. By the way, that was just the appetizer. They followed swiftly with the awkward meeting (which ended unexpectedly) between a Ford Mustang Mach-E and a Pontiac G8 GT, followed by a couple of Tesla Model S Plaids that didn't let anyone interrupt and fought each other. At the same time, one of the drivers seemingly took a nap in their lane. There was also the unexpected rivalry (with a surprise result) between a Toyota GR Supra sports car and a Ford Explorer ST family-oriented crossover SUV, plus an old-school Plymouth Road Runner that fought a Chevy Corvette and Buick Regal to show everyone it's a nine-second rascal.

Last but not least, there were also classic instances of Dodge Hellcats fighting everything – including Mustang, Charger, Civic – and wondering if any Challenger will ever rise to the occasion, plus 'friendly' interactions between the Ram 1500 TRX and BMWs or Ford F-150s. But wait, as there is more. For example, a hilariously 'lifted' Ford Falcon (gasser) dragged a Dodge Charger Hellcat like a Blue Oval champ, or a blast from the past where a Chevy Monte Carlo G-body went on a 'double date' with a 1947 Mercury, as well as the curious case of a Boss 302 Ford Mustang that brawled a blown Pontiac GTO, chevy and turbo VW Golf GTI only to show us that it's a true six-second monster. Recently, a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat thrice dragged a Chevy Corvette Z06, and they might have gone on and on forever if the loser hadn't been persuaded to go home on foot after crashing into the steel railings. Oh, and a pretty little BMW M240i towered above its condition against a Charger Daytona and a couple of Mustangs to teach everyone some eleven-second lessons.

As you can clearly see, there is something for everyone. Including a short-wheelbase Single Cab Ford F-150 pickup truck going for the crown of quirky encounters when dragging that Ford Falcon (gasser), as well as a Chevy Malibu SS muscle car along with a sport motorcycle. The look of an F-150 and a 'lifted' Falcon is beyond hilarious, but we already knew from the past encounter with the Hellcat that this is no classic to be trifled with. As such, we looked and hoped it could score a victory. Alas, it was not this time, either, as the F-150 roared to the finish line in 12.19s, which was enough to beat the old Ford despite the Falcon posting a better ET. However, the track's light indicated the pickup truck as the overall winner, most likely thanks to the driver's better reaction time. Secondly, the F-Series went against a blown Chevy Malibu SS during the night, and in the cool darkness, it didn't escape a second win: 12.12 versus 12.46 seconds. Thirdly, a green sports bike came along, as if the four-wheeled competitors weren't compelling enough anymore. Well, the driver should have known better: you can't mess with a crazy bike when you're rocking a vehicle that has the aerodynamic profile of a wall full of bricks, right?
