Announced for the Japanese domestic market at the end of October 2017, the 2018 model year MX-5 Miata has gone official in the United States of America. The biggest news for the soft-top MX-5 Miata is the addition of a new color for the canvas roof, which is called Dark Cherry (pictured).
On sale at dealers nationwide from January 2018, the refreshed MX-5 Miata starts from $25,295 for the entry-level Sport with the six-speed manual transmission. For those people who miss the point of a sports car, Mazda offers an optional six-speed automatic gearbox, listed at $1,350.

The purest distillation of the MX-5 ND adds Mazda Connect infotainment as standard, including the 7.0-inch touchscreen display, multi-function Commander, and HD Radio. LED headlights and taillights, cloth-wrapped bucket seats, leather on the shift knob and handbrake, and keyless entry are also included, as are two cupholders and a single USB port.

Moving on to the MX-5 Club ($29,155 and $29,755), the mid-range Miata introduces heated cloth seats with red stitching. Other standard features include two USB ports, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, 17-inch dark gunmetal aluminum-alloy wheels, and the Bose 9-speaker Premium audio system. Customers opting for the manual are treated with Bilstein shock absorbers, shock tower brace, and a limited-slip differential.

Two optional packages are available for the MX-5 Club, though the newly introduced Brembo/BBS Recaro package is the one to go for. For $4,470, the package adds heated leather Recaro sports seats, forged 17-inch wheels, Brembo front brakes, rear bumper skirt, and side sill extensions.

The range-topping MX-5 Grand Touring ($30,195 and $31,27) sees the Miata boast satellite navigation, rain-sensing wipers, additional sound insulation, adaptive front-lighting system with high beam control, lane departure warning, and automatic climate control. Regardless of trim level, the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata introduces four new exterior paint colors: Soul Red Crystal, Eternal Blue Mica, Snowflake White Pearl Mica, and Machine Gray Metallic.

Pricing details and packaging information for the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Retractable Fastback will be announced in the first quarter of 2018.
