Twin-Turbo 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Will Mean-Mug Any EV Truck, Flexes Crazy Power

The whole point was to build a truck based around the same 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 found in Hellcat-spec Dodge Chargers and Challengers, as well as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. That engine was going to be de-tuned to 575 horsepower for this “truck application”, but once the TRX was slotted for production, the powers that be decided not to mess with a winning recipe, leaving the power output as is.

In the end, the output figures did differ a tiny bit, but nothing substantial. Instead of 707 horsepower, the Ram 1500 TRX ended up with 702 horsepower. As if anybody would ever know the difference.

Anyway, and so the production-spec TRX came to be. It now stands as one of the most exciting pickup trucks money can buy, setting you back upwards of $85,000 MSRP.

Allow us to present an alternative though, one that you can still bid on if you really hurry up and make an executive decision.

Meet this modified 2022 Ram 1500 TRX, wearing Granite Crystal Metallic to go with its custom front bumper (with integrated LED lights), modded headlights, carbon fiber grille surround, fender extensions, hood vents and mirror caps, tinted taillights, and forged 22-inch Axe wheels with 37-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.

The truck also boasts a suspension leveling kit with rear air springs which you can control via Bluetooth, plus Bilstein Black Hawk adaptive performance shocks.

Inside, you’ll find black leather ventilated front bucket seats with red accents, TRX embroidery, additional carbon fiber trim, an aftermarket heated steering wheel, a head-up display, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system that you can operate via the 12” Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system.

As for performance, this truck’s supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 has been fitted with a Ripatuned TTRX twin turbo system, as well as a custom ECU tune courtesy of HPJ Tuning. According to the seller, this twin-turbo TRX is sending roughly 1,000 horsepower to its rear wheels (about 800 whp) through an eight-speed 8HP95 automatic gearbox with an electronic-locking rear differential.

We can only guess the straight-line performance, but if a stock TRX can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, this one should be able to do it at least half a second quicker. Also, people that have actually launched the TRX have consistently managed to get faster-than-advertised times – around the 4-seconds flat mark. With that in mind, this could actually be a 3-point-something second truck.
