The RAM 1500 TRX needs no introduction. But before we proceed, you must know that it is the quickest, fastest, and most powerful ICE-powered pickup truck currently on the market. With that reputation, it is now going on the German autobahn, in a no-speed limit sector. European sports cars, make room for the beast!
The moment the RAM 1500 TRX shows up, the sound equalizer goes crazy. It looks like an ear-plug situation. We're dealing with a 2021 model year. It is powered by the 6.2-liter V8 HEMI engine, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and delivers 702 horsepower (711 PS) and 650 lb-ft (882 Nm) to all four corners.

With these figures, it is supposed to run 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) in 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 118 mph (190 kph). At least this is what Ram says about it. But is it really so? We are here to find out.

The autobahn sector it was tested on has no speed limit, but the top speed of the TRX is electronically limited. Otherwise, the transmission and diff would probably shatter like glass.

One thing is for sure. The Ram 1500 TRX absolutely hates wet roads. It loses grip right from the start and looks tailhappy, especially with launch control activated. Now that is something no driver would consider a joy when running errands, for instance.

On a first attempt performed by the Netherlands-based AutoTopNL team, the pickup truck goes so easily all the way to 117 mph (188 kph), with the needle using almost the entire speedometer for the run.

If you think 118 mph is not enough for a performance pickup truck, just keep in mind that the pickup truck hit that speed in very tricky weather conditions. Furthermore, there is a 6,439 pound (2,920-kilogram) vehicle in front of our eyes. So let's show a bit of tolerance!

The model in the YouTube video is not entirely stock. It has been equipped with a Dual Guerrilla Exhaust Bypass Valve, specifically designed for the it and mounted in front of the mufflers in the factory exhaust system. The valve kit is available for €1.549 ($1,710). Price does not include installation.

In the United States, you can drive a Ram 1500 TRX home if you pay a MRSP of $87,045. Or you can go for either a Ford F-150 Raptor, that starts at $76,775 or a Toyota Tundra TRD for $70,920. They are indeed more affordable. But they don’t even come close in terms of output and torque. It is 450 horsepower (456 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) for the Ford and 437 horsepower (443 PS) and 583 lb-ft (790 Nm) for the Toyota. Now you decide.
