The MG4 XPOWER is the new hot hatch in the British carmaker’s lineup, and it is the most and fastest powerful model that they have ever built. How fast? It's Audi RS 3 kind of fast.
MG claims that their all-new MG4 is expected to fly under the radar since not much about its looks betrays the power that it has. There is no massive tail wing, no aggressive front end in the fashion of other hot hatches currently out there. But MG reps are sure that their new EV is going to "shake up the market."

The car comes with orange brake calipers and a two-tone color scheme, and runs on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Turanza tires. Customers can choose the exclusive Racing Green color option.

For fun on winding roads, MG equipped the model with the Dynamic Cornering Control System, available for the first time on a GM. The system features a locking electronic differential and Intelligent Motor Control, allowing torque vectoring between all four wheels, while also providing the car with maximum traction.

The MG engineers recalibrated the tuning of the spring and damper and came up with stiffer anti-roll bars and sharper steering. Regenerative braking will allow the one-pedal driving mode.

Based on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) developed by SAIC Motor, the MG4 XPOWER is set in motion by two electric motors that deliver a total of 429 hp (434 ps/320 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm of torque). A 201-hp (204-ps) motor engages the front wheels, while the other one, which is more powerful (228 hp/231 ps/170 kW), is mounted on the rear axle.

This setup provides the hot hatch with all-wheel drive for a run from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.8 seconds using launch control. Those figures make it justas fast as Audi’s RS 3, for instance, and 0.1 faster than the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+.

No word on the top speed just yet, and the info about the battery pack and how far the MG4 is able to drive before it needs to be plugged in again is still under wraps.

The sports hatch will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that takes place this month (July 13-15). That is where the British carmaker will also bring the EX4 concept car to the First Glance paddock. Inspired by the Metro 6R4, the EX4 will display a special livery to honor the rally legend of the 1980s

MG mentions no intentions to send the EX4 to the assembly line. So for the moment, it is just the MG4 XPOWER that is ready for order. Those who want to take one home should get 36,495 pounds ($46,327 at the current exchange rate) ready.
