McDonald’s and Tesla Are Selling a Cyber Spoon Because Every Cybertruck Driver Needs One

Say what you will about Elon Musk – and a lot has been said already! – but he does seem to have the magic touch that turns everything into gold. It even works when he's not aware of it.
There's a new Tesla product on the market, and it's the result of a most surprising collaboration. The product itself is a surprise, including to Musk himself, even more so than the Cybertruck-inspired cardboard box for your EV-loving cat.

It's a Cybertruck-inspired spoon for your Oreo McFlurry. What's an e-truck driver to do without one, right?!

Since the introduction of the Cybertruck electric truck in November 2019, Tesla has put out several related products that immediately went viral – and later sold out. Attempting to count the items coming from third parties would be an impossible task since they range from matching garage designs to door stoppers.

So let's just sum up by saying that all Tesla products in general, and the Cybertruck in particular, have undeniable appeal. They might be occasionally controversial, but that only goes to make them more appealing.

Even in that context, a Cybertruck-related product by way of McDonald's seems random, though not necessarily in a bad way. Between September 6 and September 26, McDonald's China will be selling the Cyber Spoon, a piece of metal cutlery inspired by the distinctive silhouette of the Cybertruck and meant to accompany your favorite treat, the Oreo McFlurry.

This isn't plain cutlery, either. Aside from the Cybertruck association, only 50,000 units will be made, and availability will be limited to China. They'll become collector’s items right away, in other words.

The design was done with Tesla because, duh, a company of McDonald's size wouldn’t do this without prior approval. There's also the phrase "Don’t panic" etched on the handle to further confirm the collab – a tribute to the Tesla Roadster sent into space in 2018 but borrowed from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The spoon comes with a matching, Tesla-branded holding case.

Perhaps the funniest part about this tidbit isn't the existence of the spoon, as random as it might be. It's the fact that Elon Musk thought it was fake news, saying so on X (formerly Twitter) when queried by a Tesla investor. Granted, a man in Musk's position has at least two dozen more important things on his mind at any given moment than whether Tesla is making ice cream spoons, but he could have checked the veracity before replying.

The Cyber Spoon will probably go down in history as the most surprising Tesla collab: so surprising that it even took Musk by surprise. It's also infinitely better looking and more awesome than the Cybertruck Cat House, though your feline friend would probably disagree.
