Maybach is reportedly switching gears and going the ultra-luxury, ultra-exclusive way. The Mercedes sub-brand will roll out unique models that will cost millions of dollars.
Maybach has always been the definition of luxury, performance, and craftsmanship for Mercedes. Now, the German carmaker is planning to turn Maybach into a kind of coach-built super-Mercedes, which takes personalization to a whole new level, as per a senior source familiar with the matter.

Maybach will be attempting the game that other carmakers played and won. Alfa Romeo has recently unveiled the 33 Stradale, with the 33-example limited run, reportedly costing $2.1 million, and is now considering the development of another supercar, set to be ready by 2026.

Rolls-Royce did the same with the Amethyst Droptail that they presented at the Monterey Car Week in August 2023. Out of the total of four, two have already been sold, with the other two in the works. RR also built four Boat Tails, with Jay-Z and Beyonce, but also soccer star Mauro Icardi owning one.

Mercedes-Maybach will be doing it as well, producing examples of the Myth or Legend cars, set to be either super expensive limited-run models or one-offs commissioned by wealthy special customers.

Both types can go as far as seven-digit price tags. These should be the ones that will reduce the gap between the Maybachs and the Rolls-Royces and Bentleys.

The list includes a 2+2 sports coupe inspired by the iconic 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and, eventually, also coming as a roadster, a pillarless four-door, four-seater luxury coupe, and a low-roof SUV, the Panamericana Cruiser, based on the electric version of the G-Class, the EQG.

Also based on the G-Class, there should be the GLR Slantback, a coupe-like stripped G-Class with a canvas-top pickup rear end.

Despite all the setbacks with the AMG One hypercar, Mercedes is considering an electric follow-up coming as the AM EQR Two.

A street-legal model inspired by the Vision One-Eleven, that Mercedes might call C111 Reimagined, the EQS Shooting Brake, and a very low drag coefficient EQS SUV, the world’s lowest for an SUV, called the Streamliner are also part of the plan.
According to Car and Driver, Mercedes is also considering a flagship electric sedan underpinned by the upcoming MB.EA-L architecture, specifically designed for large electric vehicles.

They will come as special projects, in very low numbers, and will sit at the top of the Maybach lineup.

There is no word on when Maybach is going to start unveiling and delivering the super exclusive models. But most likely, potential customers are going to be the first ones to find out.

The S-Class, the EQS SUV, and the GLS are the models that currently wear the Maybach badge.
