The Ferrari F40 is easily one of the Top 10 most famous supercars of all time. Its simple shape can be recognized from a mile away, so it's treated better than a member of the royal family.
Out in the real world, the most "offensive" things people have done to an F40 include painting one a color other than red or installing air conditioning. On the other hand, the Ferrari brand has become tortured and distorted in crazy ways - phone cases, watches, belts, caps... you name it.

So while this rendering is going to offend purists, a picture of an F40 with a Pista nose is actually far more creative than slapping that Prancing Horse logo on everything. In the words of Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory, "nobody knows what it means but it's provocative; it gets the people going."

The contrast between the classic, boxy F40 styling and the sharp, modern Pista is quite strong. Both halves are fighting for your attention. The proportions are a little strange too, as Ferrari used much shorter noses back in the day. As somebody pointed out in superrenderscars' comments, this might have worked a little better with the later, but much less exciting F50 supercar.

A child of the 80s, the F40 was a mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive super sports car engineered by Nicola Materazzi with styling by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti and Pietro Camardella. It was a rush job, and Ferrari initially had plans to make only 400 units.

Of course, demand for this twin-turbo V8 exceeded all expectations, so they ended up producing over 1,300. The retail price was about $1 million in today's money. Almost every unit has a unique feature or a story to tell. For example, this rendering is based on one of just 78 units that were officially brought to the UK.
