Not everyone loves a menacingly dark project. Well, perhaps the all-black looks aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but a priceless execution should at least warrant a partial sign of approval. Even a virtual one.
Over the years, we have seen quite a lot of custom automotive transformations that sought to morph popular models into veritable light-sucking, moving “black holes.” And we have to say that in recent times both technology and craftsmanship have met for sometimes incredible results. Both in the real and virtual world, it seems.
Interestingly, not every model out there looks good with the all-black treatment – just like not many cars would dare to adopt fully monochromatic or bleached-out appearances. And, frankly, Pontiac’s fourth-generation full-size Bonneville certainly wasn’t on our radar for such a personalization project. Now, though, we’re all in with the idea!
That’s all courtesy of virtual artist Rostislav Prokop – aka rostislav_prokop on social media. He recently came up with the perfect CGI restomod project to ruminate during the final days before Halloween. It’s a 1970 Bonneville, probably one of the quirkiest renditions of the series, as far as we can tell. That huge vertical grille treatment is a dead giveaway.
Actually, we should be careful about summoning dark forces as the ride is called “BON EViL,” an antihero-worthy nickname it so fittingly deserves. Frankly, it’s so dark it lights up our custom-loving eyes with joy. And it also comes with all the cool features of contemporary custom creations, including the slammed appearance of something that never saw a pebble in its life.
Additionally, we couldn’t help but notice this Bonneville looks a bit wider than it should, especially at the rear. The devil is always in the details, as they say, so kudos to the designer for also daring to cover the massive rear wheels or dressing up the body with blacked-out flames.
