Porsche has been making the third generation Cayenne since 2017, and we all know what this means; that’s right, they are prepping a mid-cycle refresh for their flagship high-rider.
Prototypes of the vehicle have been spotted since the beginning of the year, and have yet to drop the camouflage hiding their redesigned front and rear ends. The latest scooped tester, seen at the Nurburgring, refuses to show its new skin, but even with the vinyl stickers covering good chunks of the face and back end, we can still see some changes.

For instance, the LED headlamps appear to be a hair smaller. Also, the front bumper was tweaked, sporting slightly bigger side air intakes flanking the larger grille. At the opposite end, it has a new bumper that now incorporates the license plate holder, modified tailgate, and quad exhaust pipes. Don’t worry about the taillights, because they are not the final production units, as those should be similar to the ones equipping the current Cayenne.

Normally, getting close enough to a prototype to snap a few pictures of the interior is easier said than done. However, our spies managed to immortalize the updated cockpit, which sports a redesigned steering wheel and what appears to be a new digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system is partially visible in one of the pics, and we cannot tell whether it has been updated in any way. Nonetheless, previous scoops have indicated some significant changes in this department, as you can see for yourselves here.

Details surrounding the engine family are pretty much inexistent at the time of writing. Still, the usual V6 and V8 gasoline units, together with the plug-in hybrid powertrains, should carry over, with or without changes. We should find out more details about it as the unveiling date approaches. Speaking of which, Porsche might introduce the 2022 Cayenne facelift early next year.
