Let's face it, a concept is how everything we see initially started out. Well, as I was looking for groundbreaking ideas and visual representations, I ran across the works of Pick Wu, a freelance designer from China. While the Animal Vehicle project is nothing more than a fun exploration of vehicular shapes, I felt these creations are worthy of your attention.
Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes for the next few minutes on these unique and one-of-a-kind vehicular designs. Sure, as you explore the works of Pick Wu, you may say to yourself that these designs have nothing to do with the real world. Sure, that is true, but then again, not everything on this planet is meant to be functional; some things are for nothing more than pure pleasure, and pleasing is precisely what these trinkets are.

Before I go on, allow me to point out that the following machines result from a mashup between man-made shapes and functions, while traits of some animals have been integrated into the process, resulting in unique creations, to say the least. Try and figure out what wildlife may have been used for each resulting vehicle.

As I explored this artist's Behance page, I was first confronted by a motorcycle-like design that is just so dang nice just to look at. Right from the start, you can begin to get a feel for the sort of works included in this project; everything is sleek, gives off a minimal feel, and, frankly, could become one heck of a toy if someone decides to create figurines out of the renderings.

What I enjoyed about the motorcycle was how the wheels are bulbous, giving off a rather wholesome presence. Towards the bike's rear, a spacey frame continues with the rounded edges and shapes and finally ties off the machine with an equally sizeable globular wheel. As for a possible rider, the handlebars extend from way above the front wheel and end up looking like bull horns. I wonder if that front wheel lights up as you ride and if the colors change depending on your speed.

Diving deeper into Wu's work, I discovered a mono-wheel drone, which doesn't seem to be suitable for a passenger, and another drone, this time, very airplane-like. Finally, something that I have no idea how to describe; a vehicle that is clearly flying and comes across as looking like something you could see in the Matrix if it was drawn by Korean visual artists. I say Korean because most works coming from such minds are minimalist, colorful, and use a lot of white.

As for the very last vehicle in the lineup, it's here that we see something of an F1 car, but again, shaped, twisted, and colored to resemble the rest of the machines in the project. Well, this may be one of the only trinkets that resembles a real vehicle, and it all starts off with the same minimalist and rounded feeling.

At the front of the F1 design, small tires drop the front nice and low, while heading towards the rear, the bodywork takes on a lifted look supplemented with massive wheels. Sure, enough, this one is suitable for a driver, but I wonder how I would look if I was transposed into Wu's magical world.

Sure, they may seem a little childish, but the beauty of Wu's designs is that they're an absolute pleasure to look at. No portion of my visual cortex is overloaded with too much of any cue or feature, and frankly, I can see these creations in some video game or cartoon. That may sound like a farfetched idea, but I bet you can recall some of the details of the vehicles you've driven while playing Mario Kart, and those aren't seen driving down the streets either.

At the end of the day, I even downloaded one of these images and set it as my background. Why? Because I'm a kid at heart, and we can never be too old to see something as beautifully balanced as this little Animal Vehicle project.
