It’s fitting that one of the fastest men on the planet would drive one of the fastest muscle cars ever made in the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Not that this is just any old Hellcat, but rather the Redeye variant, which was introduced for the 2019 model year to fill the void left by the departure of the Demon.
You can look at the Hellcat Redeye as an upgraded “regular” Hellcat, fitted with a slightly less powerful Demon engine. Its supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 is rated at 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque, which back in 2019 meant an extra 90 horsepower and 11 lb-ft of torque over the standard vehicle.

Other upgrades include a reinforced ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, track-tuned suspension, plus one or two minor mods. All in all, the Redeye proved so successful that Dodge kept it around for subsequent model years, and you can still buy one today with the Jailbreak package, from $82,895 – or $91,295 if you want the Widebody variant.

Now, the reason why we’re looking at this particular Redeye-spec Hellcat is because it belongs to none other than Mecole Hardman Jr, a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, and one of the most talented players at his position in the NFL.

Full disclosure, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen (or shown you) Hardman’s Challenger, but unlike the first time, now we’ve got additional high-res images of the vehicle, both inside and out.

The car was sold, customized and delivered to Hardman by Dreamworks Motorsports, who specialize in performing aftermarket mods. According to them, this Hellcat had to be taken apart all the way in order for them to install the custom color-changing wrap.

Other visual highlights, as far as the exterior is concerned, include the gloss black and yellow accents, the player’s own logo on the gas cap, doors and projected downwards when the doors are open, custom color-changing undercarriage LED lighting, plus the Suntek Films window tint.

Inside, we can clearly see the branded door panels, the starlight headliner with the shooting stars pattern, a JR Audio sound system with an LED-lit custom enclosure and logo, plus the interior accent lighting. This is also the first time we can see the projected logo, comprised of the number ‘17’ and three jets flying in formation.

This is a seriously nice Challenger, and we have seen plenty of other professional athletes modding their Hellcats too. It’s a trend. For example, Lonzo Ball’s Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a lot more menacing-looking than this one, although to be fair, we have no idea what the Chicago Bulls player did to it on the inside.

As for Hardman's pro career, he’s definitely had better seasons than the one he’s currently having. Literally all his previous seasons have been better in terms of catching percentage and receiving success rate. Luckily for himself and Chiefs fans across the nation, his team is once again having a great year, currently leading the AFC West with a record of 7 wins and 2 defeats.
