Tesla has been showing the Cybertruck in all possible scenarios. But towing is not one of the common circumstances we have seen it in. Now, the electric pickup truck has been caught towing a large trailer.
Tesla posted a photo on former Twitter/current X social media platform last July, confirming that the Tesla Cybertruck entered production at the Giga Texas. It was the moment the Tesla enthusiasts had been waiting for almost four years.

The carmaker unveiled the model back in November 2019, when the bulletproof windows that were unbreakable were smashed to pieces after being hit with a metal ball and a baseball bat within seconds. Despite the predicament that the Cybertruck was in up on the stage, millions of people queued to pay the $100 deposit to reserve an example.

The model was supposed to enter production sometime in late 2020 or 2021 at the latest. But we all know Elon Musk and the things he comes up with when making promises and delivering them late. Now it is finally happening, but only in limited production numbers, and deliveries of the Cybertruck are to start before the end of the year. Tesla still has time to do some fine-tuning on the electric pickup truck before it kicks off volume production next year.

The Cybertruck has recently been spotted towing a large trailer on public roads. It is probably Tesla’s way of checking the towing capabilities, which are, indeed, impressive. And the trailer that shows up in the video, in the company of the vehicle, only comes to confirm the numbers.

Tesla claims that the single-motor rear-wheel drive variant comes with a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds (3,402 kilograms). The all-wheel drive Dual Motor version can tow up to 10,000 pounds (4,535 kilograms). The Tri Motor Cybertruck can pull an impressive 14,000 pounds (6,350 kilograms), while the range-topping quad motor is able to drive with 15,000 pounds (6,804 kilograms) on its tail. Yes, you read that right. That means it can tow two ICE-powered pickup trucks without breaking a sweat.

Those figures will make it the most capable electric pickup truck on the market, being way above what the Ford F-150 Lightning can do, 10,000 pounds (4,535 kilograms), and also more than what the Rivian R1T pulls: 11,000 pounds (4,990 kilograms).

Of course, the trailer slashes important numbers from the range. Payload capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds (1,588 kilograms) for all versions.

And the Cybertuck is not just a workhorse, but also has race car capabilities, because it runs from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

The fun part of it is that some of the videos uploaded on X were captured with the Rivian Drive Cam factory mounted on one of the Cybertruck’s main contenders: the Rivian R1T.
