Internal jokes are funny, and most of the fun is caused by the fact that no one outside the company knows what they mean. But now, the moment of truth has come. What does the hand signal that Tesla workers showed in the photo that revealed the series production Cybertruck actually mean??
The photo was taken at the Giga Texas, in Austin, and it shows the Cybertruck in production form, four years after it was first revealed, in November 2019. Elon Musk himself took the time to congratulate the team working on the model on social media.

In the photo, the electric pickup truck shows up surrounded by hundreds of workers. Not much of the production body is visible, so we can only assume that it is production-ready, as the caption of the Twitter post reads. But Tesla is probably still trying to keep that under wraps in the company's usual "we'll show you later" style. Probably not much has changed since 2019, as confirmed by the spy shots we have been seeing for the past year.

And if you look closely at the photo, you will see that some of the employees appear to flash a hand signal. It is one that made the Internet wonder: what does it actually mean? People took to Twitter and Reddit to find out.

Now it is clear that the Tesla workers created the hand gesture to honor the Cybertruck, which is two years behind schedule. They use the index finger and thumb to create a triangle, which is similar to the angular shape of the vehicle’s roofline.

We are to see more of that body during the upcoming delivery event, set to take place towards the end of the third quarter of 2023, as Elon Musk promised.

The electric pickup truck should also make it to the 2023 IAA Mobility Show in Munich, at the beginning of September.

Available for booking with a $100 deposit, the Tesla Cybertruck has been reportedly reserved by over 1.5 million people. Reservation does not force them into buying, and they can get their deposit money back if they change their minds.

Three versions are available: a single-motor rear-wheel drive, a dual-motor all-wheel drive, and a triple-motor all-wheel drive. The latter will be the fastest of them all, going from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 kph) in 2.9 seconds. Those are supercar kind of figures that the Cybertruck will be dealing with.

First deliveries are confirmed for 2023, but volume production will ramp up next year. Elon Musk is hoping that the Gigafactory will roll out between 250,000 and 500,000 examples per year. Rivals in the segment, such as the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and GMC Hummer EV pickup truck are waiting for it.
