People discovered that the trailer hauling two Cybertrucks had reached Mount Vernon in Illinois, ruling out the IIHS testing facility in Virginia as the destination. Instead, the trucks could be heading for the TRC Ohio testing facility in East Liberty, where the NHTSA operates its Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC).
Tesla has been producing the Cybertruck at a much faster rate in the past week, with trailers leaving Giga Texas on a daily basis. Some of them were seen traveling west, toward California, which explains the Cybertruck activities in the Bay Area. Tesla operates its most advanced research center there, and it's the place you should keep an eye on for the latest prototype sightings. Still, others were spotted traveling in the opposite direction.

On Wednesday, we found out about an intriguing trailer carrying two Cybertruck pickups. The trailer was spotted in the parking lot of a motel in Lonoke, Arkansas, and people flocked to it overnight to take their daily Cybertruck fix. Pictures and videos flooded the internet, revealing interesting information, including the puzzling "Completed Crash Ready" writing on the driver's window. Many people, myself included, speculated that the pickups were headed to the IIHS testing facility in Virginia.

Well, one night later, we can safely rule out this possibility, as the same trailer was spotted further north in Mount Vernon, Illinois. This is way off-route toward Virginia, but the sighting offers another clue as to where it might be heading. As before, the trailer was parked at a Double Tree hotel, where the driver supposedly spent the night before continuing their journey. There's another testing facility of interest in Ohio, where the NHTSA is doing its crashworthiness tests.

The TRC Ohio in East Liberty is the largest North American automotive proving ground. The NHTSA runs its Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC) on TRC property. The facility offers comprehensive testing scenarios for safety and stability, fuel economy, durability, emissions, crash simulation, crashworthiness, and autonomous driving testing. As you can see, there are many reasons why Tesla would send the Cybertrucks to Ohio, and Mount Vernon just happens to be halfway between Lonoke, AR, and East Liberty, IL.

Of course, there could be other reasons the Cybertrucks are heading northeast. Some even jokingly said that Tesla would run the electric pickups around Detroit to troll the legacy carmakers. What is certain now is that the Cybertrucks are about to die a horrific death, and the markings on the window indeed mean that the pickup is completed and crash-ready. Still, before being crushed in the name of safety, the Cybertrucks on the trailer revealed another mysterious detail.

An unclear picture of the Cybertruck's cabin shows a different center console than the one on the prototypes most recently seen during the Investor Day in March and the Shareholder Meeting in May. It appears wider, although this could also be an optical illusion, making some people speculate that the Cybertruck might have a center seat in front after all. As much as I hate to spoil the joy, this will not happen for safety reasons, first and foremost. Still, the design changed ever-so-subtle, as you can see in the main picture.
