Custom-built for one but capable of generous accommodation, this French tiny house displays one of the most striking interior designs in its size category. Both functional and elegant, this house on wheels shows what massive attention to detail can achieve.
Like all Baluchon models, La Boheme is truly compact, boasting no more than six meters (19.6 feet). Yes, this home was built for one, but don't be fooled – its outstanding interior is much more generous than you'd imagine, and it's not just about the number of overnight guests. This sophisticated tiny was designed with an unusually large dining area and a wonderful lounge that is partially separated from the kitchen/dining area through an ingenious design hack.

La Boheme was born to entertain. One wall in the lounge proudly displays a few bottles of wine in the purest French style. A large, sumptuous sofa encourages people to spend more time together. Nearby, an impressive dining table with four seats stands out as the perfect centerpiece in this entertainment setup – whether it's a summer BBQ, a birthday celebration, or a simple family dinner, this lounge/dining section is delightfully welcoming and comfy. It's almost hard to believe that it's part of a mobile home under 20 feet.

Boasting such a glorious dining spot meant taking away some of the classic kitchen space. Even so, La Boheme's kitchen is no less charming and practical than the other sections. It boasts the look and feel of a cozy, traditional kitchen. Premium appliances were neatly integrated into the rustic-style furniture with large cabinets under the countertop. There are no overhead cupboards, which allowed the addition of two large windows for extra luminosity. Only a tall and slim cabinet takes advantage of the full height, while a couple of rustic shelves add storage and double as decorative items.

You'd probably be surprised by this home's unusual color palette, also. Most of the homes from this French brand stick to a traditional, natural wood design with a few pops of color. In this case, the addition of vibrant black-and-white accents creates depth and visual interest without overpowering the natural base. Baluchon tiny homes aren't exactly minimalistic, and La Boheme might even be a bit dramatic, which adds incredible vibrancy to a design that would otherwise be plain and simplistic.

One of the most spectacular features is the partial glass wall with black framing, which separates the lounge from the dining/kitchen area. Most tiny homes in this size category opt for a standard open-plan layout in order to keep a seamless flow and create the illusion of spaciousness.

La Boheme made a bold move by adding this unusual feature, and it worked beautifully. Thanks to the transparency, it separates and connects at the same time. The demarcation isn't harsh. Plus, the black structure of the glass wall extends vertically all the way up to the roof, with a powerful architectural effect. It also complements the oversized windows in the living room with black frames.

These windows include a huge, panoramic window to the side and a tall one on the end wall. The stunning panoramic window is another one of La Boheme's signature features. It's the ideal addition to a lounge, which it keeps bathed in natural light while also providing royal views of the surroundings.

A couple of shelves right above the sofa add discrete storage while balancing the horizontal and vertical planes. Speaking of storage, this French beauty also comes with a lovely corner bookcase. It faces the kitchen, and its corner placement makes sure it doesn't get in the way. Of course, it's all about versatility – this bookcase could easily become an open-shelf pantry or a cabinet for miscellaneous items.

A classic door instead of the more common sliding pocket doors makes way for the bathroom. All Baluchon-designed bathrooms typically stay on the rustic side, with natural wood walls and an eco-friendly toilet. The same type of black-framed window and tiny wooden shelves as the ones in the other rooms ensure a coherent style throughout while also elevating the bathroom's simple design.

In order to fit this awesome layout within such a small floor space, the staircase had to be sacrificed. Instead, a basic ladder is used to access the loft bedroom. When not in use, it can be stored away so that it takes no space at all.

The bedroom is big enough for a double-person bed. Added to the convertible sofa downstairs, it enables La Boheme to sleep at least four people comfortably. Generous, horizontal windows on each side ensure proper airflow and beautiful views. A custom-made cabinet sporting the same striking combination of white, black, and natural wood doubles as a partial protection wall.

This 2017 Baluchon design matches a sophisticated and clever interior with an equally charming exterior. On the outside, La Boheme catches the eye with its lovely green roof and traditional architecture. The gorgeous panoramic window makes it seem instantly friendly and open. The final touch? An adorable miniature porch and a green door that leads into the kitchen. Packed with such unique and carefully chosen details, this French tiny is downsizing at its finest.
