Are you ready for the tale of the 'Prince Charming' that will snatch this 'Snow White' Corvette Z06 Convertible from the 'Seven Dwarves' of New York-based Motorcar Classics? What do you mean it's too expensive to act like a fairy?!
The C8 Chevy Corvette is – as anyone that didn't live under a Mars rock for the past half-decade – now a mid-engine wonder that is capable of fighting against some of the best sports and supercars out there. There aren't many options left out there in the world with a nice bang-for-buck V8 engine under the hood, either, am I right? So, it's mostly an honor and duty to preserve the last remnants of traditional low-center-of-gravity two-door models before the high-riding crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks take over the world alongside the silent EVs.

Well, General Motors is pretty confident that its Team Corvette did a mighty fine job when they switched the Corvette from a traditional front-engine RWD configuration to a mid-engine one with RWD or eAWD. Sure, the 'affordability' traits are gone because five years after it was presented, the C8 Corvette is a bit more expensive, starting from $68,300. At the same time, the outgoing, defunct sixth-generation Camaro is still listed due to excess inventory from just $31k. By the way, that's the 490 or 495-hp Corvette Stingray coupe, the Convertible starts from no less than $77k without adding any optional goodies.

Moving on, there's also a new breed of Corvette – the first-ever 2024 Corvette E-Ray, a model with the same 6.2-liter LT2 V8 as the Stingray but also electrified for a combined total of 655 happy ponies that get sent to all four wheels. It's a rising star costing no less than $105k, but the diehard fans only have eyes for the 2023 Corvette Z06, the homologation model that allows Team Corvette to bring home so many trophies in motorsport competitions. Offered from $112,700 as a coupe, it can also be had with the retractable hardtop in Convertible format from $118,795.

That's the MSRP, of course, and excludes tax, title, license, dealer fees, and optional equipment. As always, the dealers set the final price, and since the Z06 has been a hot record-breaking FPC 5.5-liter V8 commodity of the LT6 flat-plane crankshaft variety, a lot of dealers are asking huge prices for these Ferrari-killing supercars. A quick look across some auction portals will show you that the market has cooled down a little bit since the early days of Z06 availability, but that doesn't mean some dealers don't want to make a quick buck with their units. So, here's an example to gauge if they're cash hoarders or just acting in the customer's best interest.

New York-based Motorcar Classics probably thinks it has you covered if you're not willing to put up with the constant C8 Corvette Z06 hustles, as they recently listed a 2023 Z06 Convertible for sale for the nice amount of $179,900. The HTC is dressed up in Arctic White with some lovely gloss black touches, including on the wheels, hence our parabola with the Disney classic. Inside, there's a Jet Black atmosphere interrupted by some Adrenaline Red details that are also present on the brake calipers on the outside. The combination is lovely, indeed, and the dealership claims this is a 3LZ trim model.

Suppose you do the correct combination on Chevy's portal, complete with the added factory options like Carbon Ceramic Brakes, Carbon Aero Package, Stealth Interior Trim Package, 2-Tone Seats, Spider Black Aluminum Wheels, and more. In that case, the description quotes an MSRP of over $155k. Then there's also the transferable, extended 7-year, 100,000-mile warranty along with optional tire and wheel coverage. With that in mind, and the fact that the supercar is allegedly in showroom condition with just 684 miles on the odometer, you would think it could be well worth $180k, especially since you can also haggle a bit thanks to the 'make an offer' button. However, there's a big caveat that takes away some of the fairytale glamour from this used-car-market story – the Carfax report mentions an incident at about 10 miles on the odometer: "Regrettably, the car was hit lightly in the rear, and the fully documented repair involved primarily replacement of the rear bumper cover and some trim."

While the dealership mentions that "in no way does this compromise the performance or integrity of this awesome and highly-optioned Z06," it's always a little sour when the fruit is spoiled. As such, we should wonder – is this dealership the caretaking Seven Dwarves or the Evil Queen? Whatever way you answer, it's best to know that Motorcar Classics also has other Chevrolet Corvette options in its inventory, and some of them are way cheaper. Those include a 1954 Corvette with 57k miles and a $70k asking price, a quirky 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Custom that will let you play Batman cosplay all day long, a black 1995 Corvette with Lingenfelter script on the windscreen and just 17k miles for $54k, as well as a 110-mile brown-like-chocolate Stingray with a light interior design and $95k price tag. So, which is your favorite? This Z06 or one of the other options?
