This rustic-style house on wheels might be a little rough around the edges, but it doesn't lack a sense of comfortable familiarity. Fitted to withstand harsher climate conditions and spacious enough to accommodate two dwellers, the Old Crow is one of the most charming tiny homes with a classic soul.
It's fascinating to see the unmatched versatility of tiny home design worldwide, ranging from futuristic, ultra-sophisticated structures to the simplest, rough-and-ready models. There's something for everybody, and the Old Crow is destined for folks with a love for rustic simplicity. This unique home designed and built by Tiny Homes of Maine has nothing to do with the Scandinavian-inspired contemporary minimalism that's omnipresent in the tiny house industry. Its classic, un-sophisticated style makes it stand out among its much more modern counterparts, like a precious relic.

The Old Crow seems lived in and exudes the charming nostalgia of a bygone era. Yet, the rustic woodwork isn't entirely responsible for this abode's homely ambiance. The smart layout also plays an important role in turning a basic dwelling into a warm and welcoming haven. The unassuming exterior hints at the home's retro vibe. It's by no means as open to the outdoors as most contemporary tiny homes, yet it doesn't lack luminosity or the seamless flow of an open-plan layout.

Some might find the Old Crow's kitchen to be too small. Many tiny houses try to expand the kitchen area as much as possible, often to the detriment of other living spaces. This cabin-like tiny keeps it simple. Beautiful American walnut butcher block countertops offer basic cooking space, while a couple of cabinets keep everything stored away nicely.

The standard version comes with a mini fridge, a two-burner electric cooktop, and a vented range hood. Plus, the kitchen area includes the hook-up for a washer/dryer combo under the counter. There are no additional overhead cupboards and shelves that might create excess clutter in this tiny space. It may be basic, but it's cozy and functional enough for a couple.

Having such a compact kitchen means freeing up space for a lovely dining corner. Most tiny homes in this size category use an extended countertop as a snack bar or add a separate breakfast bar by the window. The Old Crow reveals a romantic dining setup strategically placed between the kitchen and the lounge. It's a beautiful way to highlight the vintage-looking shiplap walls and wooden window frames. There's also ample natural light coming through the windows and the glass entry doors.

Few homes on wheels feature such a lovely dining option that's particularly great for couples. At the same time, this is just one of the possibilities. The Old Crow's length (24 feet/7.3 meters) adds versatility to the open-plan layout. Thanks to the smaller kitchen, this section of the house can be adapted for different needs. Instead of the dining table and matching chairs, it could feature a large desk or a work/hobby setup.

The best part is that no matter the choice, there would still be enough room left for a lavish lounge area. This flexible space can even provide extra accommodation if there's a convertible sofa available. The glass doors and transom windows keep it bathed in natural light throughout the day. Right above it, a small loft offers convenient storage. Flexibility is the key element, and it allows future owners to play around with various choices and find the setup that suits them best.

Moving to the other end of the house, we enter a more private living space. This is where the loft bedroom and the ground-floor bathroom are located. The main loft features a partial protection wall for added privacy, unlike the smaller one that stays entirely open. Multiple windows and a skylight add abundant natural light and are also essential for proper airflow.

As a truly rustic home, the Old Crow keeps things simple in terms of loft access as well. There's no staircase, only a basic ladder for both lofts. It's not the most comfortable option, but it saves a lot of space. This, combined with a compact kitchen, allows the Old Crow to display such a generous living area and dining corner.

This 24-footer comes on a dual-axle trailer with four tie-down D-rings and galvanized flashing. Pine woodwork and high-quality insulation throughout ensure durability and a cozy ambiance inside, even in challenging weather conditions. In addition to the 100amp electric service and water hook-up, a mini-split pump-and-condenser is also included in the base price.

Tiny Homes of Maine builds sturdy mobile homes in Houlton. Each model can be further customized and upgraded, but a house like the Old Crow exudes a unique charm that should remain unaltered. In a world of constant changes and crazy transformations, this rustic beauty is the home you'd want to keep coming back to.
