This beautiful house on wheels inspired by traditional cottages turns simplicity into an art form. Its clever design strikes a delicate balance between contemporary functionality and timeless elegance with a nostalgic, rustic touch.
Is it possible to reap all the benefits promised by the tiny living movement without having to give up the comfort standards associated with traditional housing? The Craftsman Cottage is living proof that the answer is "yes". Looking at this fairytale-like home, you'd hardly believe that its magical interior also hides top-notch equipment and all the basic amenities for everyday comfort in line with today's standards.

The Craftsman Cottage by Sierra Tiny Houses would be an ideal nest for a couple looking to downsize or to own a house for the first time. It offers the great advantage of looking and feeling like a traditional family home, which would make most transition scenarios much easier to handle. Moving into a cozy abode such as this would hardly feel like downsizing. Inside, every inch of space was cleverly used to maximize comfort without creating unnecessary clutter, while the addition of an exterior porch would create a seamless extension of the living space that only added to its overall traditional charm.

This California-based builder has successfully incorporated various styles and inspirations across its tiny house range. If the Beach Bungalow is an inviting home that adds mobility and flexibility to the classic beach house concept, the Craftsman Cottage is a fresh take on the craftsman style, directly inspired by the arts and crafts movement that was so popular a few years back.

As you would expect with a cottage-style mobile home, this Californian tiny stays on the small side. It's only 24-foot-long (4.2 meters) and 8-foot-wide (2.4 meters), adding up to a total floor space of just under 225 square feet (20.7 square meters). The classic configuration is best suited for a couple since it includes a loft master bedroom, a generous living room area on the ground floor, and a compact kitchen with all the basic appliances.

Even before exploring the Craftsman Cottage's well-appointed interior, you'd be impressed by its beautiful façade. This tiny house is a real eye-catcher, especially if you're a fan of traditional designs. The gable roof is an essential element of the cottage style and was also built with durability in mind. The LP siding acts as the perfect complement, highlighted by the large white-framed windows. Colorful accents add character and vibrancy to the rustic exterior, reinforcing the idea of arts and crafts.

To top things off, a compact porch is an intricate part of any rustic-style home. The front door was specifically added to the long side of the house in order to allow the addition of a beautiful wooden deck. While some of today's tiny homes invite the outdoors in through modern features such as ample glass doors, the porch continues to be one of the most important and beloved elements of the classic American home in terms of enjoying the outdoors.

Once inside, you are greeted by a sizeable living room area. The feature wall with a tiny porthole adds a gorgeous splash of color that's also inspired by arts and crafts. This part of the house is big enough to fit in a classic eight-foot (2.4 meters) sofa. The versatile setup could focus on lounging through the addition of a large love seat next to the sofa or be transformed into a charming dining spot with a compact dining table for two. Versatility is key here.

The full stairway takes up a lot of space, but it also provides convenient storage. It’s crafted beautifully out of high-quality wood, and it shows. Although primarily added for functionality, this solid stairway is an important part of the overall interior style with a rustic touch. The various-sized cabinets integrated into the stairway include tall spaces for hanging clothes and several pull-out drawers. There's also a dedicated nook for a washer/dryer combo.

The butcher block countertop with a bar extension is another eye-catching feature that brings attention to craftsmanship. This extension becomes an informal-style breakfast bar for two, which can also be used for other purposes. It's placed in front of huge windows for the best panoramic views and an abundance of natural light. Instead of bulky overhead cupboards, the Craftsman Cottage flaunts a beautiful built-in shelf that matches the staircase and several cabinets under the countertop.

As rustic as it is style-wise, this tiny is packed with top-notch appliances. In the kitchen, you'll find a tiny two-burner induction cooktop, a convection microwave, and a large fridge. The spacious bathroom comes with a full-size 36-inch shower, a conventional toilet, and a large vanity. A mini-split heating and air conditioning system keeps the temperature cozy year-round.

When it's time to rest, the Craftsman Cottage's master bedroom is one of its best surprises. It's big enough for a king-sized bed with ample walk-around space that could house additional furniture. The only downside is that it has just a tiny window, but that's enough for minimal ventilation and light during the day.
A beautiful, romantic nest for two, the Craftsman Cottage comes at an attractive price of $68,340 and is also RV-certified.
