Meet Rika, a beautiful tiny home designed and built in Sweden with an eye toward sustainability. Well-proportioned and packed with ingenious amenities, this compact dwelling offers the cozy comfort of a much bigger, traditional home, coupled with timeless design and high-quality equipment.
Every builder has their own vision of what the perfect family house on wheels should look like; for some, it's mostly about indoor/outdoor spaces and a strong connection to the outdoors; for others, it's about integrating as many accommodation options as possible. Swedish builder Treesign takes a classic approach, sprinkled with a little bit of contemporary magic dust. The biggest model in its range, Rika, is still compact enough to be easily transportable yet warm and inviting as a mother's hug.

The Rika Tiny is ten meters long (32.8 feet), which allows a generous layout with all the traditional living spaces, including two separate bedrooms upstairs and a bonus room on the ground floor, a versatile space that benefits from full privacy.

With its beautiful red exterior and classic, white-framed windows, Rika already looks like a traditional family house. Inside, the wonderfully simple wooden walls in a natural shade (a trademark of Northern European minimalism) make way for surprisingly large living spaces, resulting in a harmonious mix of openness and intimacy.

Designed to accommodate an entire family, Rika houses two separate bedrooms in the same loft area. Overall, this entire area unfolds over 14 square meters (150.6 square feet). Instead of two mirroring lofts, Rika was built with one oversized loft that houses both bedrooms. This configuration is particularly well-suited for families since the parents' room and the children's room are close to one another.

The master bedroom is big enough to fit a comfortable double bed and minimal furniture, while the kids' room is a lovely, playful oasis with twin beds and plenty of space for the kids to play on the floor. Both rooms feature large windows that add natural light and keep the space well-ventilated.

This oversized loft was also configured for maximum ease and safety in terms of access, which is another winning point when it comes to family accommodation. A traditional staircase crafted from solid, oiled oak leads to a wide landing that connects with both rooms; this allows enough privacy for this loft area without closing off the space entirely.

Even a small family needs lots of space, which might seem incompatible with the inherent restrictions of a compact tiny house. Still, Rika removes any worry thanks to the clever layout of its ground floor. If the loft area is entirely dedicated to rest and play, the ground floor houses a beautiful, fully open lounge for socializing and relaxation, as well as a third separate room.

As you can see in the gallery, this room would make a lovely home office. It's not only enclosed but also features a separate, private entrance. This way, someone might go in and out of the office without disturbing the other family members. Large windows also endow this space with sufficient natural light and beautiful views to create the perfect office ambiance.

Due to its privacy, this would also be a great spot for some alone time whenever the house becomes too busy. Ultimately, this bonus room gives Rika ample flexibility – it could be turned into a third, traditional-style bedroom, a private studio, or a workshop. Most importantly, it provides an oasis for private time, which tiny homes usually lack.

Rika's beautiful, modern lounge doubles as a dining area for the entire family. The open-concept design is perfect for enhancing a feeling of spaciousness and openness. There's plenty of room for a comfy, L-shaped sofa, a dining table with multiple seats, and additional storage. This part of the house transitions seamlessly into the large kitchen with a generous countertop and lots of cupboards.

Another one of Rika's smart layout perks is the unusually large corridor linking the lounge with the enclosed bathroom at the opposite end of the house. Having such a wide corridor translates to massive storage (always a plus when it comes to family accommodation) and even a modern laundry area with a washer/dryer unit cleverly integrated so that it takes up minimal space. This also frees up more space in the bathroom for a large shower cabin, a conventional toilet, and a beautiful oak vanity.

Underfloor heating keeps Rika comfortable throughout the year, and a flow-through boiler was added as a space-saving solution for hot water. Like all the Treesign homes, Rika was built with sustainable materials, including an eco-friendly oak-imitation option for the flooring. As the brand's largest model, it offers almost 40 square meters (430.5 square feet) while staying compact and lightweight.

For a family-size tiny home, Rika is also remarkably affordable, priced at SEK 950,000 (just under $87,000). This family-owned tiny house company typically builds ultra-compact homes on wheels, all boasting the same clever blend of traditional coziness and contemporary amenities. The Rika model proves that family comfort isn't necessarily about lots of space but mostly about the right balance between openness and privacy, topped with sufficient storage and high-quality appliances.
