'LaFerrari' is Italian for 'The Ferrari.' It came as the ultimate sports car with a price that would even make the very rich think twice before buying it. Now, such a car ended up on eBay with a price that makes people rub their eyes in wonder. It is the most expensive car on the platform right now.
The development of LaFerrari was a bumpy ride. Nine design studies were considered for the model back in the beginning of 2011. By April, the number was reduced to five.

Three were coming from the Ferrari Centro Stile, and two from Pininfarina. Of the five, two full-size concept cars were actually built: LaFerrari Concept Manta, internally codenamed 2011 Model 2, and LaFerrari Concept Tensostruttura, known internally as the 2011 Model 3. The final design was similar to the Manta concept.

The car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013 and entered production in June. The US-specced models were built between 2014 and 2016, while for the rest of the world, the interval was 2013-2016.

It was Ferrari's first full hybrid, and it was more powerful than any road car ever built in Maranello.

It came with a rear mid-mounted direct fuel injection 6.3-liter V12 engine, which redlined at a dazzling 9,250 rpm and generated 789 horsepower (800 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque, working alongside a KERS unit, which brought along 161 horsepower (163 PS). The total system output goes as far as 950 horsepower (963 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm), all managed by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and steered to the rear axle.

It runs from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in 2.7 seconds and does the quarter mile in 10.2 seconds, while top speed is capped at 221 mph (355 kph). The hybrid system pulls 3,494 pounds (1,585 kilograms), despite the fact that, during the development stage, it was rumored that it was going to be a one-ton car.

LaFerrari was the fifth ace along the Ferrari Enzo, the F50, F40, and 288 GTO.

Ferrari built 499 such units. And this 2015 LaFerrari is one of them. It is painted in the sinister Nero Daytona over a black leather interior. Only the brand’s badge, the Scuderia Ferrari shields in black and yellow, showing up on the front and rear ends and on the fenders are not black, and there is a single red accent line on the engine's carbon fiber intake. The fog lamp surrounds, side mirrors, wheel caps are in matte carbon fiber.

The car rides on 20-inch forged black-painted wheels with carbon ceramic brakes and black calipers.

The owner decided to protect their investment the moment they specced the car and ticked the box of the factory-applied Performance Protective Film that covers the entire car.

The dark theme continues on board, with only the prancing horse shields showing up in yellow. The door panels, seats, center console, steering wheel, shift paddles, and vent rings are in Matte Carbon Fiber, as the owner required. There is a Harman-Lardon audio system on board with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, plus Ferrari's Telemetry System.

The listing on eBay claims it is "as new," and it is not totally wrong, considering that this car drove through the gate of the Maranello factory eight years ago. The odometer shows 818 miles (1,316 kilometers).

The car goes for a price that would make the wealthiest enthusiasts think twice: $4,350,000. That makes it the most expensive car currently available on eBay. It is followed by a 1960 Aston Martin DG4GT Zagato, rated at $3,790,000, and by a 2020 Lamborghini Sian FKP 37, for which the seller is hoping to get $3,599,950.

Circling back to the over $4 million the seller asks for this 2015 LaFerrari, the price includes the original books and manuals, two keys, and the original window sticker. The seller is also offering the original car cover, the Ferrari Telemetry USB stick, and the car charger.

The model comes with the Ferrari Classiche certification, and it is still under the Warranty Extension and Maintenance Plan, both valid through February 17, 2024.

Even if this LaFerrari fetches the price that the seller asks for it, it is still far from the most expensive LaFerraris ever sold in auctions. In 2016, RM Sotheby's sold an example for $7.5 million. All proceeds went to the people of Central Italy, affected by the earthquake that took place on August 24, 2016. It thus became the most valuable 21st century car ever sold at auction.

In 2017, the last LaFerrari Apart example was auctioned for charity as well for $10 million. Keep in mind that Ferrari launched this car with a price of around one million dollars. The exact amount of money is unknown, since only selected customers got their hands on the LaFerrari and LaFerrari Aperta (convertible).
