The Tesla Cybertruck has a body made of stainless steel, a material that is next to impossible to paint. Elon Musk warned customers from the very start. But the carmaker comes up with wraps that give customers customization possibilities, albeit limited.
"No paint, no chips." This is how Tesla advertises the Cybertruck on its official website. The model features an ultra-hard stainless steel exoskeleton, specifically designed to help reduce dents, damage, and long-term corrosion, while repairs are simple and quick, according to the carmaker.

However, Tesla does offer color customization options. But tuning houses or aftermarket shops that will get their hands on the EV might have something in store for it. Unplugged Performance already showed their take on the Cybertruck.

Only recently, the Tesla Design Chief Franz von Holzhausen was spotted driving a Stealth Matte Black Cybertruck coming out of a Cars & Coffee event in California. Therefore, we know that the matte black is on the list, and the Tesla Shop confirms the color option.

The Cybertruck Color Paint Film in either black or white costs $6,500 and can be purchased in the Tesla App by simply scanning the QR code on the online shop page. The cost includes the material as well as the installation in a Tesla service center in California.

The two films available are in neutral shades, Satin Black and Satin White. The film, Tesla claims, is capable of self-healing, protects the body of the Cybertruck against scratches, and is more friendly to the environment than the usual vinyl wrap.

The Tesla shop offers the color wrap service with seven exclusive options available for the Model 3 and the Model Y. They are Glacier Blue, Forest Green, Satin Roze Gold, Crimson Red, Slip Grey, Satin Ceramic White, and Satin Stealth Black.

The first four of them can be ordered for $8,000, while the grey, the white, and the black are sold for $7,500. A transparent wrap is also available as a protective element for those who do not want to change the color of their Tesla for $5,000. It remains to be seen if all of them will also end up in the Cybertruck lineup.

What we expect for the Cybertruck is the psychedelic camouflage that we have seen during the public road testing stage. If the Tesla shop does not offer them, aftermarket shops will most likely do the job.

The wrapping procedure can reportedly take between five and seven business days from the moment the owner drops off the vehicle. But the angular shape of the Cybertruck, together with the straight lines of its body, should make applying much easier than for the Model 3, for instance. But, considering its proportions, it should take up a lot of material.

Furthermore, the Cybertruck, though, should benefit from factory wraps, according to the specifications of the customer. But of the ten electric pickup trucks delivered on November 30, none sported a special color.
