Yes, the Tesla Cybertruck is finally here. Well, at least for ten lucky folks who were handed the keys to the first production examples. But the delivery event also brought out some juicy, previously unknown specifications.
If you need a quick rundown, here it is. The Tesla Cybertruck starts from $61k in RWD configuration – this model will only be available from 2025 (or later) with 250 miles of estimated range and a zero to 60 mph sprint time of 6.5 seconds. Next in line comes the AWD version ($80k) with 600 hp, a 340-mile range, 4.1s to 60 mph (96 kph), and 112 mph top speed. It also boasts an 11k lbs. towing capacity.

Last but not least, at the top of the line resides the $99,990 Cyberbeast, the flagship with 320 miles of range, 130 mph top speed, and a 2.6s time to 60 mph plus eleven-second quarter-mile time thanks to its tri-motor AWD setup rocking 845 horsepower. Elon Musk bragged about its qualities and showed the Cyberbeast dragging a Porsche 911 while towing another 911!

A lot of interesting tidbits are coming out now in the wake of the presentation event, from the bulletproof stainless steel non-corrosive body to the possibility of accessorizing the upcoming Cybertruck (deliveries are slated for 2024) with a range extender feature! However, don't jump in, crying your outrage, or at least recover your ICE-powered jaw from the floor - it's not what people think - it's just another (external) battery pack.

More precisely, the Whole Mars Catalog's blog announced on Twitter (sorry, on X) that the Cybertruck range extender feature will be another battery pack that you can put in the bed. With this accessory, sold by Tesla, the Cybertruck range can be extended to more than 470 miles, according to the news outlet. It's not vaporware, as some might think – Drew Baglino, the SVP (senior vice-president) of Powertrain and Energy at Tesla, intercepted the tweet and confirmed it's a "toolbox-sized battery against the back of the cab in the bed" meant for "those who need the extra range."

Of course, the questions quickly poured in: how heavy, how is it attached, how can it be plugged in for recharging, and how big it really is? Until now, though, they remain unanswered, and it seems that nobody provided details during the delivery event. Interestingly, this Cybertruck feature will directly clash with another EV pickup truck's range extender idea – the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger uses a 3.6-liter V6 and a generator to replenish the 92-kWh battery pack. With DC fast-charging at 145 kW and dual electric motors for a combined 663 hp, the Ramcharger will clearly clash with the AWD Cybertruck as it offers a combined up to 690 miles. It all sounds intriguing, right?
