The first Stealth matte black Tesla Cybertruck has been spotted driving in California. Behind the wheel was none other than the Tesla Chief Designer himself.
Franz von Holzhausen showed up behind the steering wheel of the electric pickup truck in matte black, with every single exterior component, including taillights and wheels, blacked out. The dark shade seems to be a wrap instead of an actual paintwork. The vehicle was spotted in Santa Monica, at a Teslas & Coffee event.

So far, we have only seen the Cybertruck in some sort of silver, the color of exposed stainless steel, which has pretty much become a trademark of Tesla and which is definitely not easy to paint. The only times the prototypes spotted on public roads displayed some other look was when they were disguised in Ford F-150s or wore some funky wrap. Other than that, it is the first time we get to see the pickup truck in any other shade than its usual silver.

Last month, Tesla introduced the Stealth Grey, which is a matte grey that customers can order with the facelifted Model 3 and with the Model S sedan.

Furthermore, the carmaker now offers a factory wrap, which is advertised as “self-healing” and does not come cheap. Slip Grey, Satin Ceramic White, and Satin Stealth Black cost $7,500.

Meanwhile, owners will have to pay $8,000 for the bold Glacier Blue, Forest Green, Satin Rose Gold, and Crimson Red. Wrap services are reportedly going to be available for the Cybertruck as well.

But considering the size of the model and the need for more material to cover it with, it might be more expensive. If Tesla won't offer the service, aftermarket wrap shops will surely come up with it.

So far, the silver has been the only tone offered with the Cybertruck, but Tesla might be considering adding the matte black to the lineup. How customizable the pickup truck actually is remains to be seen once the production EVs will start hitting the road.

Soon, the first Cybertrucks will be handed over to customers. The first event of the kind will take place on November 30.

The color is not the only questionable issue about the model. No recent information about the price has been made public. As far as we’re concerned, we’re stuck with the prices mentioned four years ago, upon the official unveiling of the vehicle in November 2019.

Back then, a pandemic, a financial crisis, and two wars ago, the Tesla Cybertruck started at $39,900, with the quad-motor version kicking off at $69,900. Now, the range-topping variant has reportedly gone as high as $99,900. There is no official confirmation, though, so we will have to wait for the actual market launch to find out.
