Tesla now offers a color wrap service through its shop, with seven exclusive colors available for $7,500 or $8,000, depending on the color. Many people expected the official wraps to be launched with the Cybertruck, but it looks like Tesla wanted to practice the technique before the pickup launches.
Since we've seen the first Cybertruck prototypes wrapped in psychedelic camo, we predicted this would be a very popular option. After all, wrapping the stainless steel Cybertruck body is the only way you get a personalized color on the pickup truck. People absolutely want this, and detailing shops were undoubtedly planning to offer this service to the Cybertruck owners.

It appears that Tesla got the message because it moved to acquire a piece of this market for itself. Although the Cybertruck has not been officially delivered to the first owners, Tesla has already started practicing. Sure, the prototypes mentioned above were among the first to count as training on the job, but Tesla makes this more official now.

The EV maker launched a color wrap service for the 2023+ Model 3 and Model Y vehicles via Tesla Shop. Currently, the service is only offered through Tesla Service Centers in West Covina, CA, and Carlsbad, CA, but the network is expected to expand as more personnel are trained. According to the product's page in the Tesla Shop, seven colors are available: Glacier Blue, Forest Green, Satin Roze Gold, Crimson Red, Slip Grey, Satin Ceramic White, and Satin Stealth Black.

The first four colors cost $8,000 to apply, while the grey, white, and black wraps are priced at $7,500. There's also the option of a clear wrap for $5,000 if you don't want to change the color of your Tesla and only need paint protection. The prices include the cost of materials and the installation. Although this seems expensive, we're talking about a high-quality self-healing urethane-based film and a time-consuming operation that can take days to complete.

Tesla wraps also cover the door jambs, which requires taking the door apart, a labor-intensive process. According to some reports, wrap installation can take five to seven business days from when you drop off your vehicle. This indeed shows that the service Tesla offers should be top-notch. Still, some people are skeptical, considering Tesla's quality record and "within spec" mantra. We'll have to wait until the first cars are wrapped to judge.

More importantly, Tesla is now into car detailing, and the Cybertruck will be the primary beneficiary. Already, several reports confirm that the electric pickup will benefit from factory wraps, although the pricing is unknown. The one from Teslascope, a reputable account that offered accurate info in the past, shows that the Cybertruck will get official Tesla wraps within six months of the first customer deliveries.

Rumor has it that the Cybertruck wraps should be between $8,000 and $12,000. The flat surfaces of the pickup truck indeed make applying the PPF film easier. However, more material and labor are needed considering the truck's dimensions. We're curious to know your thoughts about Tesla's new color wrap service, so leave your comments below.
