Pictures taken inside the research facility Tesla bought from HP show several Cybertrucks with the frunks open, one of them with a bizarre Ford F-150 wrap. The image also reveals that the frunk will be of limited use because of its minuscule capacity.
The week before Tesla's Q2 earnings call, the Cybertruck topic suddenly became more popular on Google than the best-selling Tesla Model Y. The number of searches has decreased since then. However, it still speaks volumes about the popularity of Tesla's electric pickup truck. The Cybertruck amassed almost 2 million reservations, which is probably more than any other vehicle in history.
This explains why people risk their jobs for a moment of glory by sharing privileged information or pictures from Tesla's testing facilities. It happened before with the leaks from the Cybertruck production line at Giga Texas, which revealed the pickup's structure. A guy visiting Tesla's engineering headquarters in Palo Alto could snap some Cybertrucks inside a shop in the old HP building that Tesla acquired in 2021. He happily shared them on Twitter, where they became viral.
The pictures show several Cybertrucks with the hoods popped open. The most intriguing of them has a weird wrap that makes it look like an ICE Ford F-150. Tesla becoming master of disguise is new, but this could also be Elon Musk trolling Ford. This could be a creative way to make people talk about the Cybertruck as the pickup is seen on public roads. Either way, this shows people how they can personalize the Cybertruck. If the vanilla Cybertruck design is not your thing, you can make it look like something else, although I'm not sure this is entirely legal.
Even more importantly, the picture reveals that the Cybertruck has a minuscule frunk. Some who saw it even argued that it might not have a frunk at all, although Tesla wouldn't have offered a hood in that case. Also, the Cybertruck would be the first Tesla without a frunk, which doesn't make much sense. The pickups in the picture don't have the liners installed, so you can see the internals, most notably the HVAC components. There's little space left for cargo, so the Cybertruck's frunk would not be able to compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning in this regard.
Although the F-150 wrap doesn't necessarily offer a clue about the Cybertruck's size, in this case, it does. Tesla said the Cybertruck would be less than 19 feet long, and the F-150 wrap properly reflects this. The Cybertruck was expected to be the first electric pickup on the market when it was unveiled in 2019, but delays have allowed other carmakers to steal the limelight. Still, Tesla and Elon Musk promised that the wait would be worth it, as the Cybertruck will offer groundbreaking features that no other pickup offers.

As promised a closeup video of the #Cybertruck we saw this afternoon.

It looks great in camo, @elon you should consider offering ($$) this kind of optional colors/wraps.
From far the Cybertruck looks unreal and closer it looks better than on photos. This truck comes straight… pic.twitter.com/zVcVwSMOe2
