Subaru's twin model to the Toyota GR86, the BRZ, has just stepped into the 2024 model year in the United States and will start arriving at retailers early next year. The automaker has announced a handful of changes to the range and a new range-topping trim level called the tS.
Kicking off the lineup is the base version, the 2024 Subaru BRZ Premium. It can be ordered from $30,195, unlike the 2023 entry-level model available from $28,595. The price hike is justified by the addition of the brand's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.

The bundle includes stuff such as lane departure and sway warnings, a pre-collision braking system, adaptive cruise control, and a lead vehicle start alert. Other gizmos equipping this trim level are the keyless access, push-button start, power door and fuel filler cap locks, dual-zone air-con, 7-inch digital gauges, an 8-inch infotainment system, a Torsen limited-slip differential, 17-inch alloys, and LED headlights.

Choosing the Limited will get your 2024 BRZ 18-inch wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tires, heated and power-folding side mirrors, an improved audio system, heated front seats wrapped in Ultrasuede with red leather accents, and more safety gear. Here, the Japanese automaker mentions the adaptive headlamps with high-beam assist, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. This model starts at $32,695, which is also a $1,600 bump over the previous spec.

Topping the range is the BRZ tS. The STI-tuned variant is a new entry and kicks off at $35,345. It brings a specially-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, different 18-inch wheels, and tS logos at the front and rear. Inside, it has black upholstery with blue stitching, bucket seats, additional controls on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, a customizable 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a few other things. All prices exclude the $1,120 destination charge ($1,270 in Alaska), options, and dealer fees.

Power comes from the same 2.4-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine, which develops 228 hp (231 ps/170 kW) at 7,000 rpm and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque at 3,700 rpm. All grades feature a six-speed manual transmission, and only the mid-spec Limited can be equipped with a six-speed automatic. This means the automatic gearbox option is no longer available on the entry-level Premium.

Subaru hasn't mentioned the fuel consumption of the 2024 BRZ, but since it is basically the same car as the previous model year, save for the added gear, it probably retains those ratings. As a reminder, the 2023 model returns 30 mpg (7.8 l/100 km) on the highway when ordered with the auto 'box and 21 mpg (11.2 l/100 km) in the city. The three-pedal variants are arated at 27 mpg (8.7 l/100 km) highway and 20 mpg (11.8 l/100 km) city.
