On the market since 2014, the Twingo III enters the second half of 2017 with a special edition called Iconic. The cutesy city car doesn’t come cheap, though, with on-the-road pricing in the United Kingdom starting from 14,595 of Her Majesty's pounds sterling.
Coming as standard with the 0.9-liter TCe 90 turbocharged inline-3 engine, the main attribute of the Iconic is a customer saving of £740 compared to the Dynamique Nav trim level outfitted with the special edition’s optional bits and bobs. Renault UK makes a case for £2,825 worth of extra equipment, which is no small feat for a vehicle of this size. In fact, it’s good value for money.

With first deliveries planned for the latter half of September, the Renault Twingo in Iconic Special Edition attire presents itself as chic and cosmopolitan. The de facto range-topper is available in three exterior colors: Diamond Black, Crystal White, and Mint Green. Setting apart this fellow from the rest of the Twingo lineup is the crosshatch-pattern upholstery augmented by part-leather inserts, Mint Green floor mats, and Mint Green cabin touch package.

Coming as standard with a crosshatch-patterned canvas folding roof, the urban dweller further prides itself on 16-inch alloy wheels, exclusive side decals, and electrically folding and heated mirrors. Being an upgrade to the Dynamique Nav, the Iconic featured R-Link touchscreen infotainment with sat nav, climate control, automatic headlights, and automatic wipers.

While on the subject of no-cost features, the list also consists of Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and speed limiter, DAB radio, and fog lights. For customers who don’t wish to row their own gears, Renault offers the possibility of matching the engine to the optional EDC (efficient dual-clutch) transmission. On the combined cycle, the frugal-minded three-cylinder force-fed engine emits 99 grams per kilometers and drinks up 65.7 miles per gallon.

In related news, word has it Renault plans to electrify the Twingo when demand is there.” The news comes courtesy of the automaker’s British boss, Vincent Tourette. If Renault will go forward with the plan, expect the Twingo III to borrow the all-electric internals from the smart forfour Electric Drive.
