2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a monstrous 840-horsepower sedan in Plum Crazy Purple. It is a car like they used to make and won’t make anymore, because the HEMI is singing its swan song. And it’s roaring!
The HEMI is going down with a bang. But nobody even dares to think about the prices the cars powered by it will hit on the used car market. We can start with this 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

What’s in the box?

The moment the key turns in the ignition, that outrageous sound blasts through the tailpipes. It is the sound of the 6.2-liter insane supercharged engine that develops 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque. That spells 'trouble!' But only if the one who ordered it got the $1 Demon Crate package. And they did, you can see the box in the photo gallery above.

Available for one year only, that box is actually a tool kit designed for the street-to-drag transformation. The package contains a hydraulic floor jack with carrying bag, a cordless impact wrench with charger, a torque wrench, a tire-pressure gauge, a fender cover, and a foam case that fits in the trunk. And yes, all these come for an extra dollar. It’s a Dodge Challenger Demon SRT thing. The passenger seat costs just as much. The rear seats, too. It is less than what you’d pay for coffee at Starbucks.

A ZF-sourced eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission puts the power to the road. The car is equipped with Demon-specific Nitto street-legal drag radials. So you can imagine this devil is ready to rock on the drag strip as one of the most insane muscle cars ever made. Just so you know, if you still can’t decide between an 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon SRT and the new 1,025-horsepower SRT 170, the latter has been banned from drag strips by NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) unless equipped with a roll cage and a parachute. It is way too powerful for its own sake!

Without the $1 Crate Package, the output stops at 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, which is stil mental in a sedan! That Demon under the hood is fully unleashed in Drag Mode, one of the four drivin modes available on board.

The purple Dodge Challenger Demon SRT is one of the 265 ever made

What makes it visible from miles away and stick in your mind for days is that Plum Crazy pearl-coated exterior paint. Dodge only made 265 in this head-turning shade, with others getting one of the 14 other colors available. The then-new Demon logo looks threatening on both front fenders even today.

It is not every day that you get to see a purple car roaming the streets. Or the drag strip. The Challenger Demon SRT sports the Demon Airb-Grabber Hood with the largest functional hood scoop (45.2 square inches) of any production car. It is in a contrasting tone, painted in satin black. The Widebody fender flares make the car look intimidating and take up so much space out there in the street.

The one who specced it was obviously not… cheap and paid the extra dollar for the optional front passenger’s seat and another one for the rear seats. It is not out of the ordinary for customers to spec a Challenger SRT Demon with a single seat. The move keeps the weight under control (only the front passenger’s seat and belt weigh 58 pounds!) and the car blazing past its opponents. That’s how it manages to hit 60 mph from zero in just 2.3 seconds and do the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds.

The cabin is covered in black Laguna Leather, as part of the 26M package. It is the package that also brings the Demon heated and cooled seats with power adjustment, as well as LED lights. There is also a heated steering wheel, but definitely not for the heated moments on the drag strip.

The car runs on 18-inch aluminum wheels with four-piston lightweight brakes, while traction control, active at all speeds, keeps it manoeuvrable.

Only 28 miles on the odometer

What is amazing about this 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon SRT is the fact that it only covered 28 miles (45 kilometers) in five years since it drove through the gate of the Brampton assembly plant in Ontario, Canada. Most of them probably in the yards of dealerships.

This 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is for sale at Vanguard Motor and can be taken home for $249,900. The dealer also comes up with a financial plan with an estimated monthly payment of $2,082 per month. The car can be shipped anywhere in the world. Price includes the custom purple Demon cover.

Vanguard Motor currently have two more 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demons for sale. Both are slightly more affordable. But none is in Plum Crazy.
