Stunning 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon With 28 Miles Is Plum Crazy Expensive

First introduced for the 2018 model year, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon made a comeback in 2023 with more power and extra goodies. But while the latter has taken the spotlight of the Challenger lineup, the original Demon keeps popping up in our feed. And when it does, it's usually about drag racing or low-mileage examples for sale. The purple version you see here falls in the latter category.
Offered by Vanguard Motor Sales, this 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon shows dealership miles on the clock. Specifically, it's been driven for only 28 miles (45 km) since new, which is as low as they get when it comes to vehicles that are only five years old. And not surprisingly, the muscle car is in perfect condition inside and out.

Not only does the Plum Crazy Purple paint still shine like new, but the black interior is spotless from the dashboard to the rear window. Heck, the driver's seat and the gear shifter are still wrapped in plastic. It has the optional black Laguna leather interior, as well as heated and cooled seats. And yes, I said seats. This Demon was ordered with the optional front passenger seat and rear bench, which cost $1 each back in the day.

The first owner also went with the optional Demon Crate, which packs a long list of goodies. In addition to a few tools that come in handy in any garage, the crate also includes a few Direct Connection performance parts. There's a powertrain control module with high-octane engine calibration, a performance air filter, and skinny front wheels. In short, the Demon Crate enables the driver to achieve a quarter-mile time close to Dodge's official benchmark of 9.65 seconds.

One of 3,315 Challenger Demons made, this specific example is one of only 264 finished in Plum Crazy Purple. That's only 8% of total production, which makes it a rare Mopar. Plum Crazy was the third most popular Demon color, tied with Destroyer Grey. But while not as popular as Pitch Black and TorRed (more than 600 units each), purple is nowhere near as rare as Maximum Steel, a hue that found its way on only 32 cars. Of the 264 purple Demons made, 224 were sold in the US, and 40 were shipped to Canada.

So how much does it cost to take a low-mileage 2018 Demon home in 2023? This Plum Crazy example is listed at $249,900. That's a 190% premium over the original sticker of the car, which retailed from $86,090 before options when it arrived in showrooms. That's quite a lot of dough for a Challenger, but the price is far from surprising, given that many Demons were sold for more than $150,000 due to dealer markups.

And yes, that's precisely why many SRT Demons are surfacing with low miles on the odo. While some enthusiasts bought the beefed-up Mopar to enjoy it, others got it to sit on it and flip it for a quarter million bucks. And needless to say, we'll see Challenger Demon 170s popping up with similar prices toward the end of the decade.

As a brief reminder, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon packs a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine under the hood. The mill pumps out 808 horsepower on 91-octane gasoline and 840 horses when running on 100-octane fuel. The muscle car hits 60 mph (97 kph) from a standing start in 2.3 seconds toward a factory-limited top speed of 168 mph (270 kph).
