New Lincoln Mark IX Imagined as a More Premium 2024 Ford Mustang

We're not necessarily in the boat that misses Lincoln's Mark Series, but we wish they would've given normal passenger cars another shot in our market. A fresh Continental would've been a breath of fresh air in their crossover-only lineup, but it is what it is.
Why mention the Mark Series and not another model from the company's past? The reason is a rendering released online by Jlord8 recently, which imagines what a hypothetical revival could've looked like if it was based on the new generation Ford Mustang.

In the rendering artist's vision, the hypothetical Lincoln Mark IX comes with a new face defined by a different grille, a pair of slim headlamps, and a new bumper. It rides on large wheels, features a dark blue finish, and tinted windows all around. To set itself apart from its muscle car roots, it would also need a more premium interior, so it would be pricier than Mustang Dark Horse on which it builds.

Now, if you forgot, Ford's 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is the current range-topping model of the series until the Shelby(s) arrive(s). Its 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 produces 500 hp, 20 hp more than the regular GT, and you're looking at a minimum of $59,270 for one, excluding destination. The GT carries a $42,495 MSRP, and for the Premium versions of the Dark Horse and GT, interested parties will have to fork out at least $63,265 and $47,015, respectively.

It's clear that Lincoln is not interested in launching any low-slung model in our market, let alone the Mark Series, and if they did, they wouldn't use the latest-gen Ford Mustang as a blank canvas. Such a ride is certainly wishful thinking, and it wouldn't be a money-maker for the brand. Due to its more premium nature, since it would have to sit in a superior league to the real muscle car, not many people would be willing to pay the premium (pun intended), so it wouldn't be a viable product.

On a final note, the same rendering artist gave it another shot at digitally reviving the Mark Series, and this CGI is for those who think it doesn't look good based on the 2024 Mustang. Can you tell the vehicle on which it was based? You will have to forget about Ford and Lincoln and think Mazda, as it is a Vision Concept, the gorgeous RX one, dressed in different attire.

To make it happen, the pixel manipulator gave it a completely different face, reshaped the side trim, and played with the wheels and exterior color. To us, this one looks ideal, though it would have a hard time convincing Mercedes, Audi, and BMW buyers to choose it over a similarly-sized car from their lineups. So, which of the two would you get?
