Alfa Romeo enthusiasts have a lot to hold their breath for, as the Italian auto marque plans to go down the full-exotic route with a brand-new supercar. The model is due August 30, probably at the Monza Grand Prix, and not much is known about it from an official perspective.
Unofficially, however, it's been said to have been christened either the 33 or the Type 33. The nameplate is said to be an ode to the company's past models, like the 1960s 33 Stradale. And that's not all, as it might also represent the number of copies that will see the light of day, as it could be limited to only 33 examples. On top of that, 33 should be a reference to its top speed, which is said to be 333 kph or 207 mph.

You're probably curious what powers it, and the truth is that we don't know. In the most realistic scenario, Alfa Romeo has given it the same engine that powers the Quadrifoglio versions of the Giulia sports sedan and Stelvio premium compact super crossover. This is a 2.9-liter V6 with twin turbocharging that kicks out as much as 532 brake horsepower (540 ps/397 kW) on the GTAm variant of the Giulia, which represents a 30 hp (31 ps/22 kW) boost over the normal variant, thanks to the remapped ECU, redesigned pistons and rods, and Akrapovic exhaust system.

Alfa's Giulia GTAm takes only 3.6 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 kph) from naught, and given the supposed lightweight construction of the upcoming supercar, we reckon it will be way faster. It's impossible to point out the exact time required for the sprint, but we think it might be in the region of three seconds flat. By comparison, models such as the Ferrari F8 Tributo take 2.9 seconds to deal with the acceleration and top out at 340 kph (211 mph) aided by the 710 hp (720 ps/530 kW) produced by the twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8. Price-wise, it's been reported that it might start at over €1 million (equal to $1.1+ million) in Europe.

The upcoming supercar bearing Alfa Romeo's signature remains a well-preserved secret, and that applies to the styling, too. Thus, no one can tell you how it looks unless they're involved in its development. But that doesn't mean that rendering artists cannot go crazy on the design, trying to imagine what should be a very fun-to-drive machine. One of the latest digital illustrations that we came across bears the signature of juanoffline, and we found the CGIs via cardesignworld on Instagram. It's a very bold proposal with all kinds of soft curves and muscular fenders, and we absolutely love it. We cannot wait for Alfa to pull the wraps off the blue-blooded car at the end of next month. But are you also excited about it?
