Skoda is on the verge of fully renewing its low-slung flagship portfolio with the 2024 Superb. At first glance, the model looks almost the same as its predecessor, yet this is no mid-cycle refresh but an entirely new generation.
Courtesy of the previous teasers and the numerous spy shots, we have a very clear picture of what the model will look like. Nonetheless, the latest sketches released by the Czech automaker put the spotlight on some details, like the new head- and taillights.
You may want to ignore the rather aggressive design cues of the liftback and estate versions of the 2024 Skoda Superb, as they will look more tamed once the wraps come off. Speaking of the unveiling, the company has already confirmed that both are due in a little over a week from today, on November 2.
Besides giving it a fresh look, Skoda has also improved every other aspect of the all-new Superb compared to the outgoing one. That includes the already generous space for rear passengers and the luggage compartment. The car measures 4,912 mm (193.4 in) long in the liftback body style and 4,902 mm (193 in) long when it comes to the station wagon, and both share the same wheelbase length of 2,841 mm (111.9 in).
Essentially the same car as the all-new Volkswagen Passat beneath the skin, the 2024 Superb uses an updated version of the MQB platform. It will launch with numerous powertrains, which will include two 2.0L TSI gasoline units, a 1.5-liter mild hybrid, and a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid. Since diesels still matter overseas, it will also get a pair of low-revving mills. All versions will get a DSG automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive will be limited to a few variants.
We've already seen the cockpit of the all-new Superb in a previous teaser, which features a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system next to a 10-inch digital gauge cluster. Drivers won't have to take their eyes off the road to see the speed they're traveling at and other details, as it will also feature a head-up display. The company also confirmed that the cargo area was improved and is 645 liters (22.8 cu-ft) on the liftback and 24.4 cu-ft (690 liters) on the estate.
Just like its German sibling that only comes as a station wagon, the new-gen Volkswagen Passat, the upcoming Skoda Superb will come to life at the same factory in Bratislava, Slovakia. We expect the first units to roll off the line in the coming weeks and the order books to open in most parts of Europe shortly after the grand unveiling. Full details about the Czech auto marque's flagship low-slung model will be announced next week during the online presentation.
