Skoda is building momentum here, teasing for the gazilionth time – but who's counting anyway? – the fourth-generation Superb with a photo gallery made of over 30 photos. The model, coming as both a hatchback and wagon, should be unveiled this fall.
Even though the Skoda Superb looks every inch a sedan, with its three-box body, the carmaker is advertising it as a hatchback (not a liftback anymore!). And a hatchback it is, despite what it looks like, because the trunk lid opens together with the rear glass, which technically makes it a five-door hatchback. A wagon version that the company calls a Combi will play the part of the most spacious version in the lineup.

The latter is also coming as a plug-in hybrid version. The explanation for the Combi being the only one to get a plug-in hybrid powertrain is most likely the fact that the trunk is spacious enough not to force customers to make any compromise if they get a battery pack in there. The hatchback offers 22.8 cubic feet (645 liters) of luggage space, while the Combi comes with 24.4 cubic feet (690 liters).

The hatchback-looking-like-a-sedan is 193.4 inches (4,912 millimeters) long, 72.2 inches (1,834 millimeters) wide, and 58.3 inches (1,481 millimeters) tall, sporting a wheelbase of 111.9 inches (2,841 millimeters). Those figures make it bigger in every direction, as it is longer, wider, and taller. What changed about it is the drag coefficient, which is now down to 0.24 cd.

Long gone are the times when we first got glimpses of the design of the new cars at motor shows. Skoda has already revealed the completely redesigned interior of the Superb, where the carmaker installed a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, 13-inch touchscreen, and a head-up display. Rotary push-buttons, the Skoda Smart Dials, with integrated displays, showed up on the center console, while the gearshift lever migrated to the steering column.

Now, once again, we get to see the exterior design of the body covered in green and black camouflage over a green natural background. Smart move, Skoda! We do know, though, that the car is now getting a redesigned octagonal radiator grille and door handles, while slimmer taillights should show up at the rear.

There are four trims available in the Skoda Superb lineup: the Essence, Selection, Sportline, and Laurin & Klement versions. Textiles made entirely of recycled polyester and eco-friendly tanning process for the optional seats in either Black or Cognac leather tick the sustainability box.

There are 28 Simply Clever features that are offered to improve practicality.

Three petrol engines, two diesels, a mild hybrid for the first time, and a plug-in hybrid make up the engine lineup of the Skoda Superb.

The mild-hybrid version comes with the four-cylinder 1.5-liter TSI that generates 148 horsepower (150 PS) and a 48-volt belt-driven starter-generator plus a 48-volt lithium-ion battery.

There are two versions with the 2.0 TSI engine, one with 201 horsepower (204 PS) and another one with 261 horsepower (265 PS).

There are also two diesels in the lineup: the 148-horsepower (150-PS) 2.0 TDI and the range-topping 190-horsepower (193-PS) 2.0 TDI with all-wheel drive. The seven-speed DSG automatic transmission is standard.

The 2024 Skoda Superb will debut this fall and will enter production toward the end of the year, while deliveries will start in the first quarter of 2024.
