A monoposto cockpit for a driver-focused approach. This is how Infiniti describes its latest design concept, currently on display in Monterey, California, at the Pebble Beach event.
Called Prototype 10, Infiniti’s new electric speedster concept is supposed to pay tribute to early Californian speedsters. It is also meant to preview in some manner the way in which Infiniti will be creating its cars in the not so distant future.

The 10 is the brainchild of the carmaker’s new design chief, Karim Habib. Supposedly, the lines seen on this speedster are an early interpretation of where the evolution in design will take Infiniti in the following decade.

Karim Habib said in a statement that "Prototype 10 provides a link between where INFINITI stands now, and where we are heading.

"For us, electrification means performance – our cars will be powerful, efficient, and highly rewarding to drive, and Prototype 10 is a physical representation of our electrified future."

Unfortunately, if the Prototype 10 hides something or not under its body is still a mystery. The Japanese have not released any information on the battery, motors, and power of the model.

The promised revolution in design and electrification from Infiniti will begin in the year 2021 with a range of pure electric vehicles, range extenders, and hybrids. All will likely make use of a thing or two from the lessons learned by Nissan with its electric Leaf.

Infiniti promises its electrified vehicles will “break down many of the perceived barriers to EV and hybrid car ownership.” These are pretty much the same promises made by the Japanese when they introduced their two other most recent concepts, the Prototype 9 and the  Q Inspiration.

For now, the carmaker made no attempt to turn these concepts into production versions. The first Infiniti sports electric vehicle was announced in early 2017 by the company’s president.
