At the beginning of this year, a Honda motorcycle was ridden to victory in Saudi Arabia by Ricky Brabec. It marked the first time in 31 years the Japanese have climbed to the top of the famous Dakar rally, and the win seems to have opened their appetite for more.
During one of the company’s recent online events, it was revealed the goal for 2021 is to win all of “the world’s major titles through its Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) operated factory teams, and its satellite teams.” It's a huge commitment, but one that is backed by a great season in 2020.

Dakar was not the only competition to have had Honda crowned as a king this year. The FIM Road Racing World Championship Moto3 went to Jaume Masia, the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) was snatched by Tim Gajser, and Toni Bou was crowned leader of the FIM Trial World Championship (TrialGP).

All of those titles will be defended in 2021, and more will be chased, promises the company.

“Racing is Honda’s driving force, and by competing in the various racing series, its technology and associates are taken to the next level, and it’s racing spirit and newly developed technologies are applied to many of its products,” Honda said in a statement released after the online presentation.

“Honda will continue, through its products, services and racing, to make its dreams come true with its customers, in the spirit of its corporate slogan The Power of Dreams.”

For these goals to be achieved, an army of bikes and riders will be fielded in no fewer than nine racing series or events, including all of the above, plus MotoGP, AMA SuperCross, and the Endurance World Championship. There are 11 teams and 23 riders, backed by a total of 8 motorcycles, including the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, CRF450R, and CRF450 Rally.
