The Genesis G80 has just received a mid-cycle refresh in its home market. The sedan follows in the footsteps of the facelifted GV80 SUV and Coupe, which were shown at Los Angeles, and features the usual styling tweaks, joined by a few updates on the inside.
Between us, it will fly under the radar to the average Joe as far as the exterior design is concerned, as the changes there are modest. The car comes with a revised grille flanked by split headlamps, a new bumper with a sportier design, a new rear bumper with repositioned reflectors and hidden tailpipes, and new 20-inch wheels with a five double-spoke design said to be "reminiscent of an aircraft propeller."
Due to the new OLED display, the interior represents an important departure from its predecessor. Instead of sporting two screens, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 14.5-inch infotainment system, the 2025 Genesis G80 has a 27-inch display mixing the two, which spans across the width of the dashboard. The automaker also mentions the touch-based HVAC system, a redesigned gear shifter with a crystal-like appearance, and revised trim.
Available in ten exterior colors, including the new Brooklyn Brown, the facelifted sedan will be further detailed in due course, probably before the year's end. We don't know yet if they did anything to the powertrain family, but the 2024 G80 comes with a 300-horsepower (304 ps/224 kW) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque 2.5-liter unit in our market and with a 375 hp (380 ps/280 kW) and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) 3.5L mill, both featuring all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Joining the family is a battery-electric version of the car. It's called the Electrified G80 and boasts 365 hp (370 ps/272 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque combined from its front and rear electric motors that give it an electric all-wheel drive system. The EPA-estimated driving range of this model is 282 miles (454 km), and it is offered from $74,375. For the 2.5T variant, interested parties are looking at a minimum of $54,150, and the 3.5T starts at $64,000. All prices exclude the destination charge, as well as options and dealer fees.
The rivaling 2024 BMW 5 Series is also offered with gasoline and electric power, starting at $57,900 for the former and $66,800 for the latter. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan is priced from $56,750, whereas the Ingolstadt firm's proposal, the Audi A6, has an MSRP of $57,300 for the 2024 model year.
