It's never too early to dream about the kind of builds that could greet us at the 2020 SEMA show - here's to hoping the curve will be flattened by November, so we can enjoy the car customization madness in Las Vegas. And what better way of stimulating the imagination than a rendering portraying a late 1960s Ford Galaxie with a twist?
Just to be clear, there are no hints on this pixel project turning into an actual build, but the point above still stands. We're looking at a machine that requires three main labels, starting with #restomod. This Galaxie stays true to its legacy by keeping the exterior close to the factory form - the wheel arches are now bolder, while these are filled by deep-dish steelies.

However, a trip under the hood of the American monster reveals that its muscle is of the new-age kind. To be more precise, the machine is now animated by the Predator motor of the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. So the driver can always count on the blown 5.2-liter V8, with its 760 ponies and 625 lb-ft of twist.

Nevertheless, the color scheme covering the generous real estate isn't random. That's because this is inspired from the liveries of multiple #NASCAR teams that fielded the Galaxie - as Abimelec Arellano, the digital artist behind this work, aptly points out, this Ford entered a plethora of competitions across the world, with the list also including Baja stunts in Mexico, road course adventures in the UK, and even battling the stopwatch in rally fashion.

As for the third label, this Ford Galaxie could pass as a #sleeper, even though this is the kind of status that can spark a debate.

Swipe right to see what’s under the hood of this Galaxie . I’ve always loved the fastback models of the Galaxie from the late ‘60s. Big body, big engine and just killer looks, what a era that was. Also, the Galaxie was a contender in multiple forms of motorsport across the world, like Nascar in America, Road course racing in England, Baja racing in Mexico, and even Rallying in Monte Carlo. Yes. Rallying. The twisty back road covered in mud and dirt-kind of rally. My favorite iteration of the big Galaxy coupes are definitely Nascar though, they all had great looking color combos and I’m a sucker for deep dish steelies, so I figured that for this one we could do a restomod with a bit of Nascar sprinkled over it. The party piece is the engine: A supercharged 5.2 liter V8 off the new GT500. The wheel arches have been opened up, and the paint scheme is inspired by different Nascar teams. Do you like it? . . . . . . . . #ford #galaxie #1969 #v8 #shelby #gt500 #supercharged #v8 #restomod #track #racecar #custom #fast #snake #cobra #nascar #3d #render
