They say it takes money to make money, and this saying couldn't be more true when it comes to the high-end car market. Whether we’re talking about ultra-rare vehicles from the past or modern-day unicorns with enough power to change the Earth's tilt, your pockets have to be extremely deep to be able to afford them.
One automaker that masters this recipe like a true boss is Bugatti. The Molsheim brand's entire lineup, old and new, costs more than the proverbial arm and leg. Be it the classy old-timers, the EB 110 that helped rejuvenate the brand, the iconic Veyron, its successor, the Chiron, alongside every model the latter gave birth to as part of the company's few-off and one-off ranges, all of them carry eye-watering price tags.

Speaking of Bugatti's few-off series, it includes the Divo, too. This magnificent machine came out almost six years ago during the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Back then, it shocked the entire car world with its bold styling, which was a coachbuilding ode, looking like something that came from a sci-fi movie. This model doesn't lack the comfort, safety, and technology features, and it retains the luxury flair of its more mainstream sibling, the Chiron.

The engine was also shared with the Chiron (and not only), and it is the magnificent W16 powertrain. The quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter motor, working in concert with a seven-speed DSG and all-wheel drive, steams out a whopping 1,479 horsepower (1,500 ps/1,103 kW). The output is available at 6,700 rpm, and between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm, it develops 1,180 pound-foot (1,600 Nm) of torque. This intercontinental hyper GT takes 2.4 seconds for the 0-62 mph (0 to 100 kph) acceleration, and its top speed was electronically limited to 236 mph or 380 kph.

The maximum speed of any modern-day Bugatti is a controversial topic for the French car brand that operates under the roof of the Volkswagen Group, and while 236 mph may not seem that much in theory, in practice, there are only a handful of places on Earth where one can safely and legally achieve it. The Divo is 77 pounds (35 kg) lighter than the Chiron and proved to be eight seconds quicker at the Nardo racetrack.

Now, while it may share its underpinnings with the Chiron, the Divo boasts other stuff that separates it. And we don't only mean the exterior, as the team responsible for its development paid extra care to the steering and suspension components, so it behaves rather differently during the occasional punishing than its sibling. It also produces 198 pounds (90 kg) more downforce and features increased camber.

Considering that only 40 copies were made until 2021, when Bugatti pulled the plug on it for good, coming across one in the wild is almost impossible. Each one used to set its original buyer back around €5 million, which comes out to almost $5.5 million at the current exchange rates, and when the first ones started hitting the 'used' car market, they changed hands for a couple of million dollars more.

This certainly beats investing in real estate, crypto, stocks, and so on, but it's not like all of us have a few million dollars to spare at any given moment. But if you have become rich during this time and you are thinking about sprucing up your life with a Bugatti Divo, then there are some copies listed for grabs as we speak, including one that we found on Mobile. You can access the ad here, and before you do, let us tell you a few things about it.

According to the listing, it has 304 miles (489 km) under its belt and a first registration dating back to July 2020, the model's second year of production. An Austrian used car dealer with perfect ratings from very few reviews has been tasked with selling it, and they were unable to take a few clear pictures of it, hence why we shared official images of the Divo in the photo gallery above. This hypercar is said to have a silver finish with a few blue accents, and it's in stock.

You already know that the Divo is mind-blowingly expensive, right? Now, you should take a seat, as we are about to tell you how much this one costs. Without further ado, you are looking at €10,115,000, equaling almost $11 million. If it sells for the asking price, then its owner will have doubled their money just by sitting on it for over three years and dusting it off occasionally.

To put this number into perspective, you could buy MORE THAN 150 brand-new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray mid-engine sports cars for that sum or some 18 units of the Lamborghini Revuelto plug-in hybrid supercar, which boasts 1,001 brake horsepower and takes 2.5 seconds to 62 mph (100 kph).
