The NSX is one of the coolest Japanese cars ever, and we want to keep it around forever. However, the supercar introduced five years ago divides opinions. Some might even call it a failure, as used first-gen models are now more valuable.
After a long development process filled with hiccups, the new NSX was presented in production form at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, for sale in 2016. It didn't trigger emotional responses and failed to deliver raw performance like its Italian rivals from Ferrari and Lamborghini. However, it felt like an experimental hybrid technology project, and the owners seemed to enjoy it.

For the record, we don't think it's a failure. The name NSX is short for New Sports eXperience, signaling that it's more of a platform for new ideas. But the first-gen had a reputation for being a reliable alternative to a Ferrari, whereas this is a hybrid concoction. Some have already given up on the mid-engined car, and Acura has plenty of other cool projects on the way, like the Type S models and a possible return of the Integra.

But YouTube artist TheSketchMonkey decided to try and design more "soul" into the NSX. According to him, the front is an emotional experience, with organic shapes that resemble the eyes of an insect or the beak of an eagle. The side is a little lacking in character lines too, but the rear is the biggest offender.

According to the designer, it's like the NSX was penned by architects with shapes that are too unvaried. Using his trusty Photoshop brushes, he quickly adds a bit more character back there. It's nothing major, just some creases and vents. We would have also added the dual exhaust system since it would have been a tribute to the original model.

Rumor has it that Acura is indeed thinking of doing things with the NSX. Back in September, our Japanese source claimed the NSX Type R was on its way, packing 650 horsepower and more carbon fiber.
