Google Working to Fix Android Auto on Pixel 5 But It Needs Your Help Too

The experience with Android Auto is often far from flawless, and Google Pixel 5 owners make no exception, as they’re also coming across a series of issues of their own.

For example, a discussion thread on Google’s forums highlights one of the latest bugs users came across when trying to connect the Pixel 5 to their head units to run Android Auto. The app just fails to launch, and nobody knows exactly why, especially since they’re using a Google device to run a Google application.

Recently purchased a Pixel 5 and can no longer use Android Auto in my car. Loved Android Auto previously and worked well with my Samsung S10 but does not connect with the Pixel 5. The phone and apps are both up to date and I am using the genuine USB A to C cable from the Google store. My car is a 2018 Mercedes B class,” one user explained on the forums.

So theoretically, Android Auto just fails to launch when a Google Pixel 5 is used for the connectivity, and Google confirmed not a long time ago that it was investigating the problem in an attempt to bring things back to normal.

Now the company is asking for more information on the whole thing, so users themselves can lend a hand to the search giant and contribute with feedback that could help determine the cause of the problem.

If you too encountered the same issue on Android Auto with a Pixel 5, just head over to the discussion thread linked above and provide Google with error information, including the Android Auto version failing to launch and the car and the head unit make and model.

In the meantime, you could also try to repair the whole thing on your own, though people who posted on the forums claim nothing fixed Android Auto on their devices. So as far as the community is concerned, Google is pretty much the only one that can get Android Auto up and running on the Pixel 5.
