Subaru is one of those niche carmakers that have a massive cult following, no matter what. So, do you think that fans will lament that its 2023 Ascent, Outback, Legacy, or Impreza models are recalled for a driveshaft that may disconnect, or they will rave about the news of the 2024 Subaru WRX TR's arrival?
We bet on the latter, too, as the Subiefest events are known to bring exciting things to the Subaru world. However, the news about the next version of the Ascent mid-size crossover SUV is not coming from the real world but rather the rumor mill – more precisely, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators.

Over there, it seems the latest information about the three-row CUV with seven or eight seats has to do with the 2025 model year's potential revamp. It's only logical, of course, as the nameplate was launched in late 2017, with production and sales starting during the third quarter of 2018. Since then, the American-built (at SIA in Lafayette, Indiana) successor to the Tribeca model has garnered a steady following for sure.

As such, its fans might be glad to see this unofficial depiction of things to come, as the Halo oto channel on YouTube provides fresh automotive info corroborated with their virtual designs; and now, there are also some CGI ideas about the next Ascent's design ethos. For starters, the host believes that, after the 2024MY Ascent didn't bring anything new compared to 2023 aside from higher MSRPS, next year we will see a major evolution in terms of styling and powertrains.

More precisely, the big crossover based on the Subaru Global Platform twinned with the Legacy (BW) and Outback (BT) will be ready to ditch the 2.4-liter turbo boxer mill, a long-lived household signature powertrain, in favor of electrification. And they already have a source – Toyota, of course. Additionally, the company will probably take advantage of its adventurous image even further by letting the new Ascent join in on the Wilderness establishment.

Third but not least, the channel's resident pixel master was also asked to cook up the potential vision of the new 2025 Subaru Ascent. The redesign – which should always be taken with a pinch of salt as nothing is official just yet from Subaru – features a cleaner look compared to the facelifted Ascent, which gives it a modern allure. Of course, the Subaru traits are still there, so there's no chance of missing the signs about its identity.

So, what do you think – should the Japanese automaker start thinking about a significant refresh for the 2025 model year of their Ascent three-row family-oriented mid-size crossover, or will the company update it slightly until they research and develop an all-new second-generation?
