A car that was manufactured in 2018 and only has 238 miles on the clock. There must be a missing link here, is the first thing that pops into your head when you hear this. But as impossible as it may seem, it can happen. And the car that checks the age and mileage boxes is a Lamborghini Huracan Performante.
For five whole years, this car only drove around the dealerships' yards. It moved around on a trailer. Never set wheels on a public road unless it was a test, not to mention track. Even though it had the credentials for it. It is a Lamborghini Huracan Performante, after all. Back in 2017, a Lamborghini Huracan Performante lapped the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 52.01 seconds, becoming the fastest production car at the famed racetrack, right ahead of its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show. It was nearly 5 seconds faster than the previous record holder, the Porsche 918 Spyder. But something has stopped this Lambo from giving it a go in the Green Hell as well. Or on any track in the world for that matter.

So what is so special about this car right here? It is a one-of-one model, coming from Canada, now residing in Miami, Florida. When it drove through the Sant'Agata Bolognese factory gate, back in 2018, the Huracan, in its Performante version, took with it the brand's 'meraviglioso' (that is Italian for 'marvelous') 5.2-liter V10 engine. That power plant is capable of 631 horsepower (640 PS) and 443 lb-ft (601 Nm), all steered towards all four corners via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Acceleration from zero to hero – a walk in the park for the Lamborghini Huracan Performante

All these figures made the Huracan Performante flash from zero to hero (0-62 mph or 0-97 kph) in 2.9 seconds. That is super fast even by today's standards, not to mention 2018. It took 8.9 seconds to hit 124 mph (200 kph), and it had a hypothetical top speed of 200 mph (325 kph). In practice, Lord knows where that needle would stop on that new digital odometer it was equipped with.

And that run is like a walk in the park for it. The Huracan Performante is lighter, shedding some 88 pounds (40 kilograms) due to the extensive use of carbon fiber. Lamborghini had retuned the magnetorheological (try to read that out loud!) suspension, re-calibrated the Dynamic Steering and stiffened the chassis by 10%. And just think that the model only weighed 3,423 pounds (1,553 kilograms) with all fluids.

All the aero the car is equipped with, the ALA (an acronym for Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) is there to do some work and keep the car stable at high speeds, not just for the show.

Lamborghini sold the Huracan Performante with an MRSP of $274,390. But now, this one is listed for sale on eBay for almost double that price, and some may think it does not make any sense. Well, it does. We'll fill you in a bit later.

The car is in Miami, Florida, in the yard of family-owned luxury dealer in Orange County, California, which says they are not just selling cars, they are selling lifestyles. That motto fits the Lambo all too well. Because the figures they have come up with are totally different from those the Huracan Performante rolled off the assembly line with. That partly explains that price.

Forget all the figures of the stock Huracan Performante. The car forgot them, too!

The listing claims that there are 2,800 horsepower in that car, specifically built for 1/2 mile events. They put it on the dyno and got 2,200. "We played it safe on the dyno and, at 27 lbs of boost and 44% duty cycle, we made right around 2,200 and left it there," they tell. Tests carried out on the expressway showed about “1,700-ish"”

And wait, there is more. The team that tested it believes that it can even do 3,000. Which is absolutely insane, even though we're dealing with a 5.0-liter V10. But that would be a torment to the transmission. Just remember the Chevrolet Camaro that went up in flames on the dyno at the end of July. The transmission went ‘boom!’ Fire broke from under the car and airbags were deployed, leaving Andrew, the owner of the car and of the shop, in a cloud of dust and smoke.

Back to the Lamborghini Huracan Performante we go. Finished in Giallo Taurus over a black interior in leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber, the model shows no sign of wear that a car of its age would. And it couldn't at only 238 miles (383 kilometers).

The one who will take it home will have to pay more than half a million dollars for the supercar. The bidding on eBay has already hit $518,900 and counting.
