An unmolested all-original Mustang that has never been touched is a rare breed, but the one you’re looking at here not only checks all the boxes in this regard but is also literally a true survivor.
And it’s all because the car has recently survived a fire that could have toasted it completely, according to a listing published on eBay this week.
The 1965 Ford Mustang is now auctioned off online, and according to the owner, it’s been parked for over 25 years. But the flames that nearly reached it are seen as an indication the car must go, the seller says, and this is why the Mustang is now published on eBay as part of a no reserve auction.
In other words, the one sending the highest bid wins, and the auction is set to come to an end in less than four days. The top bid right now is $8,600, but you should expect the price to go up as we get closer to the end of the digital fight.
“Sadly last year a fire came through and got within 8 feet of taking out this classic Mustang but never got on the car, just close enough to fry the paint. My elderly friend who has owned this car has asked me to get it started and sold so here we are,” the eBay listing reads.
The Mustang comes with a 289-ci (4.7-liter) engine paired with an automatic transmission, and while we’re not being provided any specifics on the powertrain, we’re actually being told it “will start and run right now of a gas bottle.”
It’s said to require only the typical fixes a car that’s been sitting for so long needs, including new brakes, a water pump, and other small repairs here and there.
The Mustang comes with a black California plate, and it can be checked out in person in Simi Valley. International shipping is also available.
