Yachts and superyachts serve countless purposes for their owners. However, one machine, or rather, company, SeaFair, is doing things a bit differently. Let's dive into the sort of venue you and I can hang out at while in Florida.
Folks, I often like to check in with conceptual yacht designers to get a whiff of where trends may be headed. Well, as I was exploring Luiz De Basto's website for amazing dreams, I ran across a rendering dubbed SeaFair. Intrigued, I dove further, only to find out that a real SeaFair does exist (as a business), and yes, De Basto is one of the crews behind what we see. But SeaFair's story is so much bigger, so let's keep going.

Now, SeaFair currently exists in two parts: the Grand Luxe, the current machine floating around Florida, and the Crystal Grandeur, dubbed the SeaFair on De Basto's website, which is said to launch "this winter" and explore the region Naples and Marco Island, Florida's Paradise Coast.

So, what are we in for with this venue? Well, it all depends on what sort of needs you may have. For example, the SeaFair is a business and one that places the superyacht at the center of its model, in the process, transforming all five decks of this ship into an event-hosting location.

Let's say you're an artist and wish to bring about a different kind of experience to your potential buyers and admirers. If that's the case, imagine what sort of market presence you'll be able to secure for yourself when people start talking about the art exhibit they saw on a yacht. Decks one, two, and three are all ready for individual or open exhibits.

What if you're just out there trying to impress that guy or gal you finally made a step toward? Can you imagine the speed of your progression through all four bases on that first date? Sure, the Luxe Lounge, open-air champagne and caviar, and a glass-walled restaurant are going to help to an extent, but you still need to be the one putting on the moves. The rest is up to the motion of the ocean.

Funny enough, your first date aboard the Grand Luxe really hit a grand slam because months to a year or so later, that date has transformed into your fiancee. And guess where you'll be hosting your wedding? Aboard a SeaFair ship!

But the Gand Luxe is massive, and so, depending on the size of your wedding, you may just need only one deck for the event. Fine, grab access to two decks and invite your extended family; be sure to check out the Sky Deck for such an event. We even covered such a wedding event back in 2021.

Best of all, SeaFari offers complete services for this event, including planning, catering of the finest level, entertainment options, and even staffing, so all you have to do is take care of the church ceremony, and the rest is hands-off.

Now, wedding season is rather short-lived, so in order to cut even and even make a profit, SeaFair hosts an array of other events aboard the Luxe's superstructure. From Bar and Bat Mitzvahs to Quincenera events and even corporate functions, all have a place aboard this floating venue. At the end of the day, there aren't a whole lot of folks who can say they spent their birthday or team-building on a $40M megayacht.

Funny enough, a wedding or any other event aboard a SeaFair vessel actually comes across as rather reasonable, with evening events with a cruise starting at $25K (€23K at current exchange rates), which is less than some landlocked weddings. According to sources, around $30K was the average spent on a wedding in 2022. So, you know, think about that for a moment.

But all of these words are about the Grand Luxe; what about the Crystal Grandeur, the concept seen on De Basto's website? Well, all we know so far is what the renderings show us, what's mentioned on the designer's website, and that SeaFair states that this vessel will be launching "this winter."

As for what we're in for, we can expect similar to even more distinguished experiences, but this time around, this megayacht lets our eyes view the world around via multiple levels and decks, all exposed, or rather, projected by massive floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

There's just one catch to the Grandeur. Upon further research, the event website does state that this ship was meant to launch "this winter," but that was in 2022, and during this year, there hasn't been one drop of news regarding this baby's launch. So, what can we do? Only be patient and let the shipyard in charge of this wonder complete their work, none other than St. Johns Shipyard, according to De Basto. In the meantime, the Luxe has seen a $6M refit, so it, too, is as fresh as ever and no less spectacular.

If you've been looking to do a team-building lunch, host a wedding, an art exhibit, or are just aiming to wow the date, get out that checkbook, head down to Florida, and go from there. I guess it can just be another way to celebrate the upcoming new year in a way very few of us ever have.
