For the past several days, the hype surrounding the Tesla Cybertruck has been skyrocketing. Everyone wants a piece of it, everyone dissects it, everyone wants to know everything about it. Now, the Foundation Series is the thing as customers started talking about it online. What is the Foundation Series, actually?
After four years of delays, Tesla finally delivered the first trucks during a handover event that took place on November 30 at Giga Texas. The first ten customers left home with their brand-new electric pickup truck.
And the show goes on. Tesla has been inviting other customers who made a reservation to confirm their interest and configure their future vehicles. One of the variants they were offered was the Cybertruck Foundation Series, and this is also what the first ten owners received a week ago at the Giga Texas.
The details were found in the source code of the Tesla official website, which also reveals that the Foundation Series variants will be delivered throughout December 2023.
For the past few days, other customers went online to talk about how they were invited to configure the Cybertruck Foundation Series. The EV maker explains what the new variant is all about. It is fully optioned and includes limited-edition laser-etched badging, premium accessories, charging equipment with PowerShare, home backup hardware, all-terrain tires, Full Self-Driving capability, and more.
"Fully optioned" would normally translate into a tri-motor version. But in Tesla language, you never know. Tesla offers it for $120,000 or $122,135 with destination and order fees included. But it sounds like a huge discount considering the three-motor powertrain, the Full Self-Driving capability, and everything else the carmaker lists.
According to posts on the Tesla Cybertruck Owners forum, early reservation holders and Tesla employees interested in purchasing an electric pickup truck received an email that announced them that deliveries have already started in California and Texas. Those are reportedly the States with the greatest numbers of reservations, so Tesla is prioritizing these states.
The Cybertruck Foundation Series might actually be the Cyberbeast that Elon Musk mentioned during the handover event. This variant starts at $99,990, is set in motion by a three-motor powertrain, and flashes from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 2.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 130 mph (209 kph).
The Cyberbeast is one of the three configurations announced, with the Rear-Wheel-Drive and the Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive being the other two. The entry-level single-motor version starts at $60,990, which is $21,000 more expensive than originally announced back in 2019. Meanwhile, the Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive can be ordered for $79,990, which is more expensive than the most expensive variant announced four years ago, estimated back then at $69,990.

I’m one of the lucky ones to get Foundation Edition. Here is proof. Does it still stand with wrapping for free? pic.twitter.com/MZ14mv9yt9
