Comedian Tracy Morgan is famous for his work and for his enviable car collection. As (bad) luck would have it, Morgan has also been getting a lot of unwanted media attention for his mishaps involving said car collection.
Given the number of mishaps Tracy Morgan has had with super-expensive rides – and we're not including the 2014 near-fatal accident he was involved in – you could almost say that the man can't catch a break. Perhaps the best example of his now-proverbial bad luck is the 2019 crash that came to be known as the world's most expensive fender bender.
Last week, another incident was added to the list of examples. Morgan's relatively new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ got side-swept in New York, so it will now be spending the next few days in the repair shop. Details on the new crash are not available as of the time of press, but if Morgan's behavior in previous instances is anything to go by, it's not likely they will come directly from him.
One celebrity publication writes that the 2020 Lambo was spotted on a flatbed truck, presumably as it was being carted off to a shop for repairs. White marks on the side indicate that the car had been in some sort of accident, either when another vehicle side-swept it or when Morgan banged it into something.
Just days before, Morgan had been seen driving the Lamborghini around the city. The video posted to social media and embedded below is from one such occasion when he took it for a ride. The Lambo is actually a favorite with the actor and has been involved in an incident before, shortly after he got it.
That was in April 2020, when a pedestrian accused Morgan of going over his foot at a crossing after failing to give him the right of way. The issue was settled without much fuss, and yes, the fact that Morgan didn't really run over the pedestrian's foot had a lot to do with it.
While repairs on the cherry red Lamborghini will surely be expensive, they will pale in comparison to those from the aftermath of the world's most expensive fender bender. The 2019 accident occurred just minutes after Morgan had taken delivery of his brand new $2 million Bugatti Veyron when a Honda CR-V cut him off at an intersection and slammed directly into the car.
Reports at the time claimed the accident, which hadn't been Morgan's fault, had devalued the Veyron and would probably cost him close to $200,000.
The same media outlet that broke the news of the Lambo accident is now saying the actual figure for the Veyron repairs was closer to $32,000 – it's still a small fortune to pay after a fender bender, but it's nowhere near $200K. That's got to be the strangest silver lining ever.
